“You’re delusional if you think he’s going to take a deal. Unlike his daughter, he isn’t a rat bastard. You know him well enough to know he’ll never give you what you want.” I ignored the accusing tone in his voice.
“I don’t know any of you anymore!”
“You knew where to find us if you ever wanted to see your family,” Kevin’s deep voice hit me right in the heart and silence fell between us until Dagger walked into the holding area.
“Hey Boss, you ready to eat?”
“Yeah, let’s go get some fucking pancakes,” Kevin looked at me when he said it because that was my favorite food. It’s what he would make me on nights I stayed over after sneaking into his house.
“No Boss, waffles. Let’s get waffles,” I stared as Kevin walked away. His cut and this biker life fit him better than I cared to admit. There was nothing left of the Kevin I once knew. Now, there was just another biker who thought that the sun rose and set with their club. A brotherhood that would eventually implode on itself because they couldn’t stop fucking around.
“My pancakes are better,” Kevin aimed his words at me.
“But waffles are pancakes with abs, and they get whipped cream cuts,” Dagger answered, sounding like a child as they strode to the door. “I’d rather have warrior waffles than pussified pancakes,” Dagger continued as Kevin opened the door and the setting sun shone around him. At that moment, I was reminded of how gorgeous he was. Even after five years apart, his bedroom eyes had me wanting to sit on his face and watch as his tongue did the most delicious things to me.
“Whatever we were Mia, there is one thing you can’t deny.”
“What’s that?” I asked as I shook the thoughts of him beneath me from my mind. He was the past, the one I could never go home to.
“You were mine.”
“I’m not that girl anymore,” I replied on autopilot. It was the same answer I gave to everyone who asked about my past and my relationship to my sperm donor.
“You’re still that girl Mia, you just need the anger fucked out of you to remember.”
“That girl died.”
“Tell me then, good girl, what do you think is going to happen next?”
