“Can we go together?” he asked.

“Sure, but don’t you need to recruit some volunteers?”

“My brothers likely already know what will happen at first light.”

I looked around the neighborhood, seeing all the shadows moving between the houses in the twilight, and nodded.

“Okay. Then let’s start with Steve and Brandon.”

“May I carry you?”

The overly polite way Molev asked spoke volumes toward how far we’d both messed up.

“Only if you do that thing where you knock me off my feet,” I said.

His lips twitched, and I was in his arms a second later. I turned my head toward his chest and breathed in his scent as he ran with me. The ride was over too soon. He held me just a little closer for a second before setting me down.

I knocked on the door and asked the woman who answered to get Steve and Brandon.

“This is a surprise,” Steve said when he saw us. They both listened to what we wanted to do and agreed to help.

“Let us take care of the rations we’ll need,” Steve said. “We know what’ll move well.”

“It’s all you, then. Pack for four days, but we should be back on the third.”

The next stop took a little longer since Katie was once again locked in her room, and we had to go in to talk to all three of them at once.

“I’m in,” Sid said.

“Me too,” Roland said. “A little fresh air would be a welcome change.”

“Are you actually saying you miss going out?” I asked.

He glanced at Ben who hadn’t taken his gaze from Katie since she emerged.

I shook my head at the pair of them. Katie noticed and gave me a desperate look.

“I’ll go too,” she said.

As soon as Ben heard that, he volunteered to go, too. Katie shot Molev a panicked look when he agreed.

“We’ll be traveling inside the vehicles while the fey keep the road clear,” I said.

After they promised to meet us by the wall at first light, we headed to Roni’s place. A few fey stopped us along the way to offer their help, proving Molev was right about word spreading. Some he welcomed. Some he asked to stay and watch over the people here.

I trusted him to choose his team wisely.

The living room lights were on when we knocked on Roni’s door.

Brog answered, looking just as harried as he had the last time I’d visited.

“She still hasn’t settled down?” I asked.

“She still hasn’t gotten laid!” Roni yelled from inside the house.

Brog stepped aside and gestured for us to enter.

I found Roni once again wearing a thong and a crop top as she made dinner.
