Limp underneath him, I felt him release a second time before he rolled us so I lay on top of him.

His hand found its way under my shirt and stroked my sweaty lower back while I caught my breath.

“I shouldn’t be on you,” I said when I realized what he’d done. “You’re going to pop your glue.”

“If you try to leave, you will cause more damage,” he rumbled, slowly thrusting into me.

“Does this mean we’re not done yet?” I asked.

“Not even close. Have you caught your breath?”

“Yep.”

He didn’t ease up for an hour, and I didn’t try to talk him out of it. After everything he’d done for us, I was willing to give a little back. It didn’t hurt that he loved giving me one orgasm after another, no matter how much I resisted.

And we both discovered that, the more he restrained me, the faster I found my release.

“You feed my need to dominate you, Andie, and make it that much harder to leave you,” he said when he finally withdrew from me.

“My vagina thanks you for leaving, though. I’m pretty sure I’m going to be walking with a hitch the way it is.”

He gently stroked his finger over my swollen and cum-soaked fun zone. “It will be recovered tomorrow.”

His fingers stilled for a moment then left my folds to trace my inner thighs.

“Do you feel well? Does your head hurt?” he asked.

I snorted. “Is this your way of asking if we can go again? The answer is no, we can’t. My head doesn’t hurt, but my vagina is on strike.”

He grunted and leaned in to tenderly kiss my lips.

“I love you, Andie.”

I cringed and knew he’d felt it when he pulled back to look at me.

“I had shitty parents,” I said. “They’d say they loved each other in one breath then say and do awful things in the next. It’s not that I don’t believe in love or hearing the words, I’m just not over the past trauma associated with them.”

The hint of frustration that had been in his gaze immediately vanished, and he pressed another kiss to my lips.

“Thank you for explaining.”

Then he got up and held out his hand. “Will you shower with me?”

“Sure.”

The woman was missing from the hallways when we emerged. In fact, the whole floor was pretty quiet. I tried not to think about why as we closed ourselves in the bathroom and showered together.

Once we were both dressed again, we went to find the doctor.

She took another blood sample and checked his wounds.

“You’re healing remarkably fast,” she said. “I’m very interested to see what the differences are in these samples.”

She turned away, already lost in her own thoughts.

We grabbed a bag of snack food that Molev and Brandon had brought back and went to check how things were going outside.

“It’s been quiet,” Roland said. “One of the new lookouts swore they saw a body in the pile outside the fence move, but we’ve been watching it, and nothing’s happened yet.”
