“If they realize how important females are and how much they control the future of this world, your human men will never allow me to leave with five hundred of them.”

“I suppose not,” I said.

I closed my eyes and let myself relax more.

“I hope they send someone tomorrow,” I said.

“If they don’t, we will encourage them to make the right choices.”

I grinned a little.“You sound like Rachel.I really need to see her.”

His hand smoothed over my arm, and I let go of the rest of my worry, willingly sinking into sleep.

As Roni had predicted, morning came early. The hint of dawn’s light peeking around the curtains was enough to coax my eyes open.Molev’s exhale teased the skin at the back of my neck while the arm around my waist firmly anchored my back against his front.

And I didn’t hate any of it.The way his hand splayed over my stomach, just below my breasts, did things to me.If Molev and I were the only two people in the house…if I wasn’t worried about my nephew…if I didn’t think the military was scheming and watching, waiting for a chance to pounce, I would have rolled over and started something that likely would have ended with me mindlessly blissed out.Or, maybe not if he’d never been with a woman before.

“You’re frowning,” Molev said, his voice a low rumble.“You rarely frown. Are you angry?”

I twisted in his arms to look at him and found him wide awake and watching me.

“No.Curious.But realizing I can’t do anything to ease my curiosity just yet.Did you sleep well?”

“Very well.”Holding onto me, he rolled to his back, taking me with him but somehow managing to turn me in the process so we were face-to-face.

His hard chest wasn’t the only thing pressing against me.I swallowed and stared vacantly at Molev’s face as I visualized his size based on where his length was digging into me.

“What are you curious about?”he asked.

I focused on his mossy green eyes with those sand-colored flecks and struggled to remember why straddling his hips and having some fun was a bad idea.

“I’m usually pretty good at reading people and most situations, but I’m not thinking as clearly as I used to.And I don’t think it’s the exhaustion of the last couple of weeks catching up to me.I think it’s because you’re distracting me, Molev.”

His lips twitched.“Good.”

“No, not good.We need me to focus so you don’t end up as a lab rat and my nephew doesn’t end up as a chew toy.Please.”

His fingers feathered over my cheek.

“Your observations and determination to lead remind me of Mya.But like Mya, you haven’t yet realized you don’t need to lead alone.I am not blind.I see the dangers you see and carefully choose who to trust. Now, place your trust in me as I have placed my trust in you.”

“I do trust you.If I didn’t, I wouldn’t be lying on top of you.”

“Mmm.Or perhaps, if you trusted me more, you would be lying on top of me without these.”

He tugged at the waistband of my underwear.

My pulse leapt, and my gaze dipped to his mouth. The fingers on my cheek shifted around to the back of my head, curling in my hair and drawing me close. My lips parted.

I knew this wasn’t smart, but my body was screamingyes.

The hand at my waist slid lower, smoothing down my ass and curling around a thigh. He tugged my legs apart until my knee touched the mattress.

“Do you like this, Andie?”

“I’m trying really hard not to,” I said, struggling to think clearly.

“I want you to like it.Tell me you like it, and I’ll show you what I want to do next.”
