“You cannot imagine the king of the undead has to deal with only a few enemies? Remember the car chase? Of those, we might have more. Enemies lurk at every corner and when you least expect it. Once they find out I have a human wife, they will throw a celebratory feast. And right away, you will become their main target. But do not fret, my love. I will protect you. I will shield you from any danger. But we will need to put some rules in place. You must tell me where you are at all times.”

“Since my return, we’ve mostly been together.”

“And I did send a few of my guards to watch over you today,” Gabriel said.

“You did? I didn’t see anyone,” I said.

“That means they’re doing a good job,” he said and raised my chin with a finger. “I lost you for five hundred years. I’m not losing you again, especially since this time it might be forever.” He kissed me fervently. “I must do my diligent duty and worship my goddess for as long as possible.”

“You still remember what you said at our wedding? It’s been so long ago,” I said.

“The fun has only just begun. Do you trust me?” Gabriel asked.

But before I could answer, he hooked both arms around my waist and began devouring my mouth. As he continued to do so, he plunged us both into the water. At first, I was scared of drowning, but then I realized we could breathe through each other’s mouths. While I could barely keep my eyes open under water, Gabriel kept his eyes on me at all times. He began exploring my body with his hands, stopping at the sensitive parts. Then suddenly, Gabriel wrapped my legs around his waist and, without any hesitation, thrust into me. I almost stopped breathing from the unexpected discomfort, which made Gabriel stop as well. Only when he saw me relax, he continued his slow, smooth movements. The mix of the complete trust I had in him and the heights of pleasure accumulating inside threw me on a different level of sensual experiences. After reaching a hazy state, Gabriel did not let me simply enjoy. Oh, no. He lifted me from the water and had me on top of him. I began moving, but there was too much splashing.

“Water loves suave movements. The more you flow one with water, the easier it becomes.”

I released my control and tried to mimic the water just like Gabriel said. I found its rhythm and slowly began quickening my movements to the degree where Gabriel began to succumb to my snares. Two can play this game. But his games didn’t end there. He once more wrapped his arms around me and plunged us both into the water and let me seek his mouth. He and I both knew if I didn’t do so fast enough, I risked drowning. Incidentally, I gulped a lot of water and tried my best not to choke on it. I focused on Gabriel’s serene face (of course) and aimed for his mouth. Once I touched his lips, he forced an entry with his tongue and began exploring the insides of my mouth. At the same time, he sucked out the water. A talented multitasker, what can say.

When he and I felt assured I was in no danger, he gripped my breasts in such a sudden way, I yelped. It was then, I felt a corner of his mouth raise. The cheeky bastard was testing me. But I didn’t plan on letting him win. He followed with deeply intense thrusts, testing my resolve over and over. Gone were the days when Gabriel acted according to my every reaction. If before our lovemaking felt sweet and deliberate, this time around it went beyond and into a form of, dare I say, impalement. Vlad would be proud of his second-in-command. The only thing I could do was close my eyes and let myself be swept by the arousal I wasn’t sure I could handle. The speed increased to such levels the water didn’t have time to react. However, my lower part felt it thoroughly. Tears of extreme pleasure appeared, but it didn’t matter as they would simply become one with the water.

I feared the impending earth-shattering climax would force me to yell and unintentionally drown me. To my relief, Gabriel took mercy on me, and when he felt I couldn’t control myself anymore he brought me back to the surface where I could yell to my heart’s content. For once, we came at the same time.

Happily lying on his chest, I could hear his heartbeat. If I didn’t know better, I would’ve been convinced he was human. But no, he was a mischievous supernatural being testing my limits. “You said you want to protect me from all predators, and the next thing you do is drown me?”

“It was but a matter of trust, Milady,” he said as he embraced me tighter.

“I assume I passed the test?” I asked.

“I didn’t even doubt it. Now, let me wash you, Milady.”

He took a luxurious shampoo glass bottle, poured some on his hand, and began massaging my hair. Bliss could not express what I was feeling at the moment. Everything about him was fluid like water. By the time he was done, I was already half asleep. Gabriel scooped me up from the bathtub, wrapped a towel around me, and went straight to the bed. I wanted to put on pajamas myself, but he insisted on finishing the job. The silky nightgown felt like dry liquid on my body. Gabriel kneeled in front of me and kissed both my hands. After, he put on a pair of black pajama pants and lay next to me so we could relish in each other’s caresses. My favorite pastime as of recent.

Chapter 18

The flight to the island went without a hitch. I asked Gabriel not to tell everyone he named the island after me so as not to complicate things even further. My dad’s brothers and sister lived all around the world and couldn’t make it. Instead, from my mom’s side, everyone wanted to come. From her two sisters to third cousins once removed. Gabriel was willing to take everyone even if they might need two more planes, but I put my foot down and told Mom we could only seat twenty people. She whined for a bit, but Mom knew, just like me, that too much family never ended well. So we embarked on our trip with my parents, Mei, my two aunts and their husbands, their kids, and grandma’s sister. And that’s not counting Gabriel’s staff.

Gabriel greeted my family and asked if they needed something, but for the rest of the time, he was couped up in his office, working on something he didn’t want to disclose. My family didn’t even notice his disappearance. They were too excited to fly on a private plane. Especially my little cousins, who were ransacking the entire cabin.

“Who would’ve thought Petra would be the one to get the rich guy,” said Aunt Sue. “I always thought it would be my Kimberleigh to snag one, but she’s still eighteen. I’ve got a long way to teach her. Come on, Petra. You’ve got to tell us how you did it.”

First, she had to travel in time, fight a few supernatural beings along the way, survive several persecutions, find a way to return home, and fail to bring her husband. And one last detail, the husband must decide to become the first vampire who will eventually become a billionaire. Thus, by association, she’ll become rich as well. No matter how you looked at it, the plan was solid. “I guess it was luck,” I said.

“They all say it’s luck, but there must be something more,” Aunt Sue said while I tried to fend myself from the onslaught of young cousins coming my way.

“It’s her Romanian side that makes her special,” said Mom. “That’s how she made aRomanian billionaire fall for her.”

“Yeah, well, my Kimberleigh is so gorgeous she can make anyone fall for her,” Aunt Sue said.

“She did make someone fall for her. It was Brady from the football team. I saw him fall for her in the back seat of the car,” said my cousin Jake.

“What?” Aunt Sue almost dropped her champagne glass. “Kimberleigh, you didn’t. You could do so much better, honey. You could’ve had your own plane.”

“But Mom, I love him. I cannot imagine my life without him,” Kimberleigh said.

“That’s what I said about your father and look at me now. I don’t even know where he is half of the time. Bill, where are you?” Aunt Sue asked and began looking around.

Uncle Bill emerged from the bathroom, walking proudly to his seat. “Yeah, well, why do I even bother searching for him? Nine times out of ten, you can find your father on the toilet.”
