At that moment, I knew I was in trouble. Gabriel began such a serious tickle attack on my body that I could barely breathe.

“Wait, wait. Not the tickling. I hate it. No.” I tried to hold off his hands but failed.

The man didn’t stop until he drained every laugh out of me. “Fine, fine. I’ll tell you,” I said.

“Pranking is when you trick someone to get a good laugh. Like a mischievous act.”

“Interesting. And how did you plan on pranking me?”

“Well, when we would try new stuff, I planned on tricking you.”

“Have you changed your mind in the meantime?” He asked, prepared to tickle-attack me once more.

“Yes, yes. I repent my wrongdoings. Please spare my ribs.” I rubbed my sore spots.

“I will trust you on your word, Milady,” Gabriel said.

“Who are you, and what have you done to our Lord and Milady?” asked a voice. When we turned, we found Solomonarul holding a sword, ready to attack us. Apparently, in our racing horseplay, we didn’t realize how close to Solomonarul’s house we got.

“Solomonarul, it’s us, Petra and Gabriel,” I said.

“Lord and Lady Stoica have left and do not have plans to return. You must be impostors sent by the witch,” Solomonarul said and went into action.

Chapter 24

Solomonarul threw himself at Gabriel while he dismounted the horse. The force aimed at Gabriel landed both of them on the ground.

“It’s me, Simion,” said Gabriel.

“How do you know my real name? The witch found out about it and will use it to cast spells.” Solomonarul rose in a panicked state.

“We learned your name at your wedding, Simion,” I said. “You and Teodora looked like the king and queen of the forest. Please believe us. We’ve been through a lot already. I’ve seen how The Other Realm would’ve become if Vedoma had taken its reigns. But she is gone now from all plains of reality and time.”

“You speak just as confusing as the one you pretend to be,” said Solomonarul.

“What Milady means to say,” Gabriel explained, “is that Vedoma has perished. Milady killed her and took her stone. It is why she could return to us.”

“I didn’t quite kill her. I just let her fall off a mountain-sized cliff.” I dismounted the horse and walked closer.

“You killed Vedoma?” Solomonarul’s jaw dropped.

“You’re back.” A shriek resounded at the door of Solomonarul’s house. At first, I thought the dragons had returned, but no, it was only Teodora. She rushed to hug me, very un-medieval-like.

“How do you know it’s them? They could be impostors,” Solomonarul said.

“Milady’s mane is one of a kind. You cannot fake it,” said Teodora.

Was that a compliment or a dig at my hard-to-control hair? Well, I guess Wallachian humidity had its advantages.

Solomonarul helped Gabriel get up and helped him dust off his clothes with zeal. “Forgive my attack, but you know it is better to be safe than sorry.”

Gabriel caught Solomonarul’s hand as he attempted to dust in more private regions. “It is understandable. But we do come bearing good news.”

“Then come inside,” Teodora said. Her belly barely showed, but I already knew the extent their family would get and couldn’t be more joyful.

“I see Milady is in a good mood,” said Teodora as she showed us where to sit. Thebordeithat once felt crammed somehow felt larger.

“I saw the future,” I said bittersweetly.
