Addison snorted, spitting out her wine at Hanna's comment. She looked at her with a laugh. "I hope you hear the irony in what you just said."

She couldn't help but laugh because they were all born queens. They were each born princesses, so they were to be leaders.

"This is different," Hanna said, looking at her. "We are taught to care and love the people, but Taryn does it differently. She speaks to them one on one and wants to ensure that each of them is taken care of. That's more than a leader. That's just a perfect human, and my brother is lucky to have you."

She blushed again.

"All I'm saying is that I understand. I get why you don't want to stop, and it's noble."

"All right, enough about this," Addison said, waving a hand. "Let's get our minds off the bad news of the day and get into something more interesting." She slipped her hand up, waving a disc. "Like this movie that I stole."

"Stole?"

"Well, borrowed," she said, standing up and walking toward the TV. "It's supposed to be juicy."

"With?" she asked.

"Everything," Addison said with a smirk and turned on the television. "It is definitely R-rated. I think it’s a pretty bad film, but it might actually be fun to watch.”

The movie started, and just as promised, it was bad. But they all laughed at the horrid acting and the amount of nakedness.

Halfway through the movie, Taryn realized she was actually relaxed.

Maybe everything will work out in the end.

I hope it does.

It has to.

SEVENTEEN

TARYN

She woke up next to Declan, who was still fast asleep. She swung her legs over the side of the bed and winced as her feet contacted the cold wooden floor.

But she got over it quickly and headed for the bathroom to get ready. She wasn't going to work, but she did have a long day with her sisters. She could wake Declan, but he needed his sleep.

He had come home late the evening before and fell asleep quickly.

He’s exhausted.

Taryn took a quick shower and pulled on a sweatshirt and jeans. She threw her hair into a bun, slipped her feet into a pair of sneakers, and then headed toward the sunroom, where they had all agreed to meet. Her sisters came up with the idea of banding together and making it a craft day, and she honestly could use the time to get her mind off everything that had happened.

Her sisters’ mates were coming into town, and they were all going out to enjoy the music festival. But they weren't arriving until later, and Addison had the idea of starting on some stuff for the wedding. They had the entire day.

She pushed the doors open to laughter and found all the girls, except Lexi, sitting on the floor around the low coffee table.

They all looked up as she walked in.

"Good morning. Did you sleep well?"

She nodded, swinging into a chair. "I sure did. You all look like you're having a good time."

Hanna nodded, pulling up her hand. She had a long string and was tying flowers to it. "I’m working on the garland. Although not everyone agrees with the flowers I'm picking."

"I thought we were going to have a bright and colorful wedding. Why on earth are you using such dark colors."

Hanna glared at Addison, and Taryn couldn’t help but burst into laughter. She missed being around her sisters like this. She missed the bickering and banter.
