She broke away first, whispering, “I missed you.”
“You have no idea,” I admitted.
“Are you really mad at me?”
“Hell, no. You just told me you have no reason to leave the island again. That makes me a very happy man.”
She laughed, and the sound was free. Like a bird taking flight.
“Good. Because I plan to make you even happier in the next few minutes.” Her expression grew serious. “And for a long, long time after.”
I knew she wasn’t talking about pulling a sexual all-nighter. Though I was all in favor of that.
But no, my girl was reminding me of our commitment.
“A very long time,” I agreed.
And then we crashed together in a tangle, tumbleweed-ing the rest of the way to the bedroom.
