He moved back from me, his brown eyes lit. I felt like crying, all the times with him rushing back, the good and the bad.

He was a big man, a couple inches over six feet, and built like a wall, so I felt terribly dwarfed by him. He had Italian good looks, olive skin, and thick lashes around his dark eyes. His smile, though, could light up a black sky.

“You look good, Sarg.”

“I know. You do too, much better than last time.”

“I feel better than last time.”

Damn had made his way around the SUV and I gave him a hug as well. It was creepy to think about, but Damon and Burke could have been brothers. They were so close in looks. Both dark haired, dark eyes, but Damon wasn’t as tall or wide as Burke.

“Good to see you again,” he said to me, giving me a pat on the cheek. “You look like you’ve been in the sun.”

“I always forget my hat,” I confessed, thinking about my beautiful hat in the house. “Burke, Damon, this is Noah.”

Noah stood waiting, but once I said his name, he came right over and shook each of their hands. “Good to meet you, Burke, Damon. Welcome to the Double O.”

“This place… it’s just beautiful,” Damon said, turning in a full circle. “I mean, this is heaven.”

“I like it,” I said happily. “It’s beautiful now, but you should see it with no snow.”

“That would be my choice,” Burke said, scowling. He brushed through his trimmed beard and gazed up at the hills behind the barn. “How much… do you get?”

“Snow? I don’t know. I’ve only been here for a few, but Noah says this is nothing.”

Damon slapped his partner’s back as he informed them, “I was raised on a farm in Nebraska. This is perfect for me. This city boy won’t be happy unless he’s surrounded by concrete. I’m trying to change his mind, though.”

Burke again scowled. “No Uber, no pizza at three in the morning! How do people eat?”

“I’ll tell ya,” Noah said, winking. “We eat just fine. Come on in and I’ll get the steaks on.”

“Steaks,” Damon growled. “Now I know we’re home.”

“Don’t get started, Damon,” Burke warned.

I had a feeling there was some dispute over where they lived. I wouldn’t comment, as I have enjoyed the city before Harvey, but I couldn’t say that I loved it more than the ranch.

The dining room was never used, but I had cleared the small rectangle table and dusted it off while I was doing my cleaning, so it was ready. Burke and I went to set it, while Damon watched Noah cooking, asking about the beef, how it was raised, and generally bouncing around him like a gnat. Noah didn’t seem to mind.

“He’s… been bugging me to get out to the country for a while now,” Burke confided to me. “I hate the country.”

“Maybe we’ll change your mind.”

“Don’t you start,” he warned with a chuckle. “I mean, I’m not completely opposed to it, but man, we’re both Doms, you know? We’d have to travel… fucking far to play. Unless you all have a club around here or a lot of hits on leather Grindr.”

“I wouldn’t know about the dating apps, obviously, and sorry, not one club that I know about. I could ask Noah about them… but…”

I watched him staring at me, with that look like he had back when he wore camo. “Get real, Eli.”

“Okay, yeah, I get it. Are you two still hunting a boy of your own?”

“Of course, but it doesn’t look good. We either can’t agree, or if we do, the guy doesn’t want more than a fuck once in a while. It’s frustrating.”

Seeing the two of them, I didn’t understand how anyone could pass them by, but then again, I didn’t know what all they were into, or how they were in their chosen lifestyle. “Are you guys weird or something?”

“Eli!”

“Well?”
