I bridge my fingers and rub them over my lips like I’m thinking. “I need a date for tomorrow night. You will be my date.”

She looks surprised. “Date?” she repeats.

“Yes. Be ready for noon tomorrow. You’ll need to be fitted for a dress, so I’ll have someone pick you up. Don’t let me down, Piper, or I will send this recording to every member of The Rebellion.”

There’s a knock on the door, and I order them to enter. Cassie struts in, flicking her long red hair behind her shoulder confidently. She glances at Piper with disdain. “I am so sorry, Mr. Martinez. I’m not sure what happened.”

“I do,” I snap. “You let a stranger walk in off the streets and dance in my club.”

“She said she was the new girl,” Cassie argues.

“Look, Anton, this was all my fault, I—” begins Piper, but I hold up my hand to stop her from speaking and the words die on her lips. She gives Cassie an apologetic look.

“Oh, I know whose fault this is, Piper,” I growl. “Michael will take you home. Cassie, show her out.” The women waste no time in escaping.

As the door is closing, it swings back open and Tag saunters in. His eyes are glazed and he’s holding a glass of amber liquid loosely in his hand. He drops down in the seat Piper just vacated. “Something bothering you?” I ask.

“My wife won’t talk to me, I haven’t seen my kid in days, and we’re still missing the President of The Rebellion.”

Tag’s alliance to the club runs way deeper than mine since he married the President’s daughter. He’s under pressure to get answers for his wife.

“She’s still blaming you for all this?” I guess.

“Apparently, it’s my fault her dad and her friend are missing. I mean, we don’t even know who’s behind it, and she’s blaming me.” He sighs. “How can two people just disappear off the face of the earth?” He rubs his forehead and groans. “She keeps cancelling my time with Abel.”

“She’ll relax once they’re home, and theywillcome home, Tag. We’ll make sure of it. We’ve got men out there doing everything possible.” I lean forward. “Guess who was in here just now.” He shrugs. “Piper.”

Tag raises an eyebrow. “Interesting. Alone?”

I nod. “Yep. Dancing on stage.”

Tag grins, and it’s the first smile I’ve seen on his face in days. “No fucking way. Did she strip?”

“Top half,” I say. “How’d yah think Bear would react to that?”

Tag laughs. “I think she’d be the first twenty-five-year-old to get grounded by her parents.”

“Don’t tell anyone, not even Lucy. I plan to use this to my full advantage.”

“How?” Tag asks suspiciously.

“I’m taking her to the dinner tomorrow evening.”

“To meet the families?” asks Tag, and I nod. He throws his head back and laughs hard. “Do I dare ask why?”

“You know they’re getting restless. Maybe seeing me with a woman will settle them.”

“For how long?”

I shrug. “I’ve never introduced them to a woman, so it should be enough to make them think this is serious, that I’m taking my role seriously.” As the head of the families, I’m expected to marry and have children, mainly a son, so my name and bloodline will continue.

“And long-term?” he asks.

“I haven’t gotten that far in my plan.”

“Using Piper will cause an outright war with the club. Hulk already hates you.”

“When an opportunity falls in your lap, you have to take it. The fact I can piss Hulk off at the same time is a double bonus. Besides, I got a glimpse of her hot body tonight and I’m not ready to forget it just yet.”
