Hendrix leads us to a stop in front of a lovely historic house. "Here it is."
I eye the place curiously. “Is this a law office?"
I’ve seen law offices in beautiful homes like this before. They always get the best real estate.
Hendrix shakes his head. “No. This is their home. Enzo doesn't work out of an office, he's kind of freelance."
"Am I going to be telling their entire pack my business?" I ask, cringing at the thought.
"No, he has an office in there where you'll have privacy."
"Ok good." I don't like sharing my problems and past with people, I've always kept to myself.
But I'll swallow my pride and do whatever I need to in order to keep Lexie safe and happy and to keep this life we're building.
Hendrix knocks on the door and it swings open to reveal a handsome beta with really dominant energy. He's even more dominant than Ryder. What the hell do they do in this town?
Whatever it is, I like it.
"Welcome. Come on in. Hendrix, the others are in the library, so feel free to join them. Moira?" At my nod, he continues. "I'm Enzo. Hendrix told me a little about your issue, but I definitely need more information. I'll do everything in my power to help you."
I’m a bit taken aback at his intensity. “Thank you."
Hendrix squeezes my shoulder before he wanders deeper into the house, leaving me alone with Enzo.
He signals for me to follow him. “Come on. We'll chat in my office."
I follow him in the opposite direction, a little bit in awe at this huge and lovely house. He stops in front of an open door and gestures for me to precede him inside.
My eyes widen at the mess. Stacks of papers and books totter in precarious piles all over the place. I'm afraid to make any sudden movements and send everything tumbling like a jenga tower.
Enzo cringes. “Sorry. I'm not a very tidy person."
I swallow a nervous laugh. “It's all right."
"Have a seat and get comfortable."
I pick my way over to one of the chairs across from his desk, watching in awe as he glides through with ease to the seat behind his desk.
Once he gets settled, he smiles reassuringly at me. “Okay, so I want to give you a little background on me to hopefully make you a little more at ease."
"Okay..."
“For a long time, I practiced law in a much different way. I took on clients around our small town, usually helping them with inheritance and real estate. But that changed not too long ago and I’ve changed my specialty. Now, I focus primarily on omega rights and work with the OFF and Aurora to try to help omega's in bad situations and to fight for change in the government. So custody cases aren’t exactly my forté, but I am used to going up against alphas who think they deserve more than they've earned. I'm also planning on reaching out to contacts and other law professionals to get their advice. If you're comfortable with me representing you, I'm happy to do it pro bono and if you'd prefer someone else who has more experience with this, I can get you in touch with them too."
He's almost manic as he explains everything, his gaze intense. This guy is a lot. I don't know how Aurora or Oliver handle him.
I take a moment to answer. “How about I explain what I'm up against and you tell me if you think you can win? Then we can go from there."
"Perfect. Hit me with it." He sits back in his seat, his gaze potent.
I swallow and stare past him out the window as I bare my past completely for the first time in my life. And I tell him everything, the good, the bad, and the ugly.
My throat aches when I finish and my eyes burn with unshed tears and buried rage and helplessness.
Enzo unearths a water bottle from somewhere in his chaos and passes it to me, remaining silent for a few moments, giving me a chance to gather myself.
"Okay, so first of all, I do believe I can help you. But I'm not going to lie to you. Even with the biological father giving up his rights, he's an alpha and unfortunately, our government gives them preference and they're also big on pack formations and raising children in them. Especially if they convince the judge that they've been searching for you guys this whole time."
