Jareth leans in like he’s about to tell her a secret. “You know, your mama used to be pretty good at soccer too."

Lexie turns wide eyes onto me. “Really? She never told me that,"

Even Ryder shoots me a surprised look.

I never liked talking about it because soccer always reminded me of Jareth.

I shrug. “I haven't played in a long time. I'm sure I'm very rusty."

"I bet you'll catch back up in no time.” Jareth winks at me.

Lexie purses her lips in thought. ”I still think I'll like basketball better."

"Thank goodness. I'd hate to lose you from my team," Hendrix teases as he appears inside.

"How did you get in?" I ask.

"Ryder used the app to unlock the door for me once he saw I arrived."

I frown. “I didn't even hear my phone go off."

Hendrix shrugs easily. “No worries, lovely.

"Ryder is watching the cameras here?" Jareth asks.

"Only the ones in the studio. I gave him access once..." I trail off as I shoot a look at my very nosy daughter who is following the conversation closely. "Uh, once I realized how terrible at technology I am when it's something new."

It's not even a lie. I forget to turn them off when I prefer privacy and forget to check the notifications, just assuming the ding is another email from a company sending out their weekly newsletters.

"Now that you're staying with us, I'll get you signed in too."

If he's ever here alone, I want to make sure he can protect himself if the alphas come knocking.

"Where's he going to sleep?" Lexie asks.

"Probably with me like Hendrix and Ryder did when I was sick,” I say.

"Are you sure they can't stay too? It would be fun!" She’s like a dog with a bone.

I can’t even blame her, because if I had more room, I’d be tempted to move them right in with us too.

"Maybe this weekend we can do a sleepover with everyone. We'll see, darling. For now, let's just enjoy the evening together."

"Can we go play soccer now?"

I consider telling her no, worried Brad and Nicole might be loitering somewhere around, watching, but I can't keep her on lockdown just because I'm afraid.

I glance down at my fancy court outfit. “I’m not quite dressed for soccer."

"Neither am I,” Jareth says. “My things are at the omega center."

I turn to Ryder. “How about the two of you go get Jareth’s things and grab clothes for yourself while the three of us start without you."

I want to make sure the two of them get time together to see whether their chemistry is going to go further.

Ryder nods. “Meet at the park?"

"Sounds perfect. We'll bring waters and snacks."
