Lexie races to her room to change clothes once Ryder and Jareth head out, leaving Hendrix and I alone in the kitchen.

He steps close, his voice low. "You smell like you had a good afternoon."

I swallow hard. “I did. How was yours?"

He presses the gentlest kiss onto the tip of my nose. “Not quite so satisfying. But it's improving the longer I'm here, with you and Lexie."

Warmth fills my chest at his words. ”Charmer."

He shrugs. “I’m not quite as smooth as Jareth, but I can hold my own."

"Good."

"So I know I showed up a bit late, but it seemed to go well between Lexie and your omega.”

I smile. “It did. So far, anyway. She's had a lot of change really quickly lately, so I don't want to overwhelm her. But Jareth does need a place to stay, especially since I signed the courtship agreement. It's all just happening so fast and I don't want her traumatized or learning the wrong lesson here. It's not safe for him to be anywhere else, so what do I do if this upsets her?"

I’m out of breath by the time I finish my panicked rant. I didn’t mean to spill that all over Hendrix, but his face is so open and kind and it just all came out.

He grabs be gently by the upper arms and ducks to meet my gaze. “Then he moves in with either Ryder or myself. Probably Ryder, considering the way the two of them are imprinting on one another. We'll keep him safe and we'll make sure Lexie stays happy and safe too. I know things are more intense because of the unwelcome parts of your past reemerging, but that doesn't mean we have to rush anything except possibly on paper. Worst case, Ryder has a huge house and we can all move in with him. Hell, he's probably already putting plans in place for just that. We'd all have our own space there and could just be roommates until we're ready for more. Let's just take things one day, one problem, at a time. You're not alone here, you've got help."

I slump into his arms. “You're getting really good at the swoony shit."

He grins. “Thank you. I'm trying my best here."

I grip harder onto his shirt. “My favorite thing about you is the way you make me laugh. I don't need swoony romance from you."

I don’t want him to think I’m looking for something different from him than anything other than he already gives me.

His grin turns soft and grateful. “Good to know, but I still want to bring the romance sometimes."

"Are you two about to kiss?" Lexie breaks up the moment.

Hendrix doesn’t pull away like I’m expecting. “I was considering it. Would that be okay with you?"

"What about Mr. Bouchard and Mr. Jareth?”

Hendrix chuckles. ”They can have their turns kissing your mama later."

"You want all of them?" She asks me.

I nod, pulling out of Hendrix’s arms. “I do, darling. But nothing has been decided yet. We’re all still getting to know each other."

I’m going to need to sit down with her soon and explain everything and answer all of her questions. She’s a curious kid, so I’m sure she’ll have plenty of them.

“We’ll talk later tonight and I’ll answer all your questions then, okay?”

“Okay.”

If they weren't already a part of her regular life, I wouldn't have introduced her to them so soon, but life rarely works out the way you expect or plan. In the best ways and the worst ways.

As long as my girl is happy and safe, I'm not going to stress over it too much.
