Ryder reads me fluently. "Stop. You are a great mother and you have raised an amazing kid. You're building a home now and that's what matters. She won't remember those early years for much longer."

I hope he's right, I just wish it was easier to convince myself of. I'm tired of the mom guilt and I've only been a mom for a little over five years. I can't imagine how bad it'll be when she's older. Having a pack to help shoulder the burden certainly sounds nice at the moment.

Ryder nudges me. “Go get packed yourself, and then the three of you head over to my place when you're ready. I'll get some dinner started so food should be ready pretty soon after you arrive."

"Are you sure you have room for all of us?" I ask.

He chuckles. “I have more than enough room. Don't worry. It's less than a mile away, you can always come back here if you'd prefer. Or if Lexie wants to come home."

I wince. “I’m sorry I'm being so hesitant."

He cups my cheek. “You've been burned badly in the past and you have a child to think about. You're doing nothing wrong and have nothing to apologize for."

I'm already halfway in love with this man. And with Hendrix. I've never stopped loving Jareth and I can't imagine I ever will, even as we get to know each other and fall all over again.

Lexie adores all of them and they adore her.

What exactly is the hold up here? I've never been treated like this in a relationship before, at least not since Jareth. They've been utterly amazing and I can't imagine a better life than building a pack with them and continuing my work at the studio.

At least once Brad and Nicole finally give up and leave us alone, leaving us finally free.

"We'll be there in less than an hour."

I'm determined to treat this weekend as a break from all the drama and worries I've been letting take up all the space in my brain and see how living with a pack feels to me. I never lived with Brad and Nicole, they didn’t want to build a pack yet. This will be a first for me and I've been alone for so long, maybe I'll hate it.

Though I thoroughly enjoyed it when they stayed while I was sick. How much better will it be when we're all feeling healthy?

Chapter Thirty

Moira

––––––––

RYDER HAS A STRANGEgleam in his eye when he answers the door to his house. We've been here for lunches and dinners occasionally over the past couple months that we've been getting to know each other, but he's never acted like this when we arrived before.

I don't know what in the world is going on with him, but it's rather adorable. Based on the little smile on Jareth’s face, he agrees with me. We exchange grins as Ryder waves us inside, Lexie rushing ahead of us, her arms wrapped around her bulging bag.
