She was seated on the bed. His wife was gorgeous in a dress that skated along her beautiful curves and brought out the copper highlights in her hair. She rose quickly with a smile that made his heart skip a beat. For a moment, Ryker was struck with how out of place she looked there among his high school trophies and old posters.

Ryker kissed her softly. “You disappeared from the party.”

“Sorry, I just needed a quiet moment.” Her gaze skipped around the bedroom. A smile played on her lips. “You know, your mom once mentioned after we were married that she would turn this room into a nursery once we started having kids.”

“That sounds like her. She’s been biting her tongue, but I know she’s eager for grandkids. She plans to spoil them rotten.”

Hannah wrapped her arms around his waist. “Well, in about nine months, we’re all going to have someone to smother in love and hugs.”

Ryker’s heart stopped and then took off like a shot as her words sank into him. Then he yelled with joy and picked Hannah up before spinning her around. He set her down on the carpet and pulled away to eye her up and down. Her figure looked exactly the same, but she radiated with a fresh glow of happiness. How had he missed that?

“You’re really pregnant?” He had to hear the words again. “We’re having a baby? You’re sure?”

She laughed. “Yes, we’re having a baby. Next year will be very exciting.” She wrapped her arms around his neck. “Congratulations, Ryker. You’re gonna be a daddy.”

“I thought nothing would be better than being called your husband. But daddy… that’s… wow.” Ryker kissed her with all the passion and joy that couldn’t be expressed in words. Hannah was going to be a fantastic mother. He couldn’t wait to start this next adventure with her. He pulled away only long enough to whisper three little words. “I love you.”
