I handed her the plate, and while she started eating, cracked the lobster claws open with my bare hands. Dipping the tender white meat into melted butter, I fed it to her between bites of the other food.

“Mm.” Her face had the same expression as when she climaxed: eyelids lowered, mouth rounded in pleasure. “You don’t know what you’re missing.”

“Let me taste.” I lifted her onto my lap so I could lick the lobster-flavored butter from her lips.

She laughed at me and reached for a corn cob. “Back off, Prince. I’m still eating.” Her small white teeth sank into the plump corn.

“Now you’re in trouble.” Taking the plate from her, I put it on the sand, unfastened her jeans and slid my hand into her panties.

“What are you going to do?” she asked around a mouthful of corn.

I took the cob, tossed it into the fire and laid her down on the blanket.

“I’m going to eat you.” I pulled her jeans over her bare, sandy feet.

“That’s punishment?”

I slanted her a wicked smile. “It is when you’re not allowed to come.” I drew her panties down her legs and teased the seam of her sex with my thumbs.

She propped herself on her forearms, hair tumbling over her shoulders. “That’s harsh, even for you.”

I slid a finger through the gush of liquid heat that my words had produced. “You like it, though.”

Her smile was rueful. “You know I do.”

I put my mouth to her. “Tell me a secret and maybe I’ll let you come.”

Her eyes flickered as if I’d made her uneasy, but her smile never faded. She shook her head slowly from side to side.

“I think I can make you.” I lapped at her clit.

Her head fell back. “Do. Your. Worst.”

So I did, and when I’d decided I’d tortured her enough, I did let her come, then pulled her astride me. We finished like that with her riding me in time to the slap of the waves against the shore.

Afterwards she collapsed onto my chest, her heart beating double-time, while I stroked her back. She shivered, and I murmured, “You’re chilly. We should go.”

“Not yet.” She lifted enough so that I slipped out of her, then draped herself back over me with a satisfied murmur.

I felt around for my T-shirt and draped it over her, and she murmured her thanks.

The moon was almost full. I watched a cloud pass over it.

Twilight kissed my shoulder. “I have a secret for you.”

“Yeah?” I’d forgotten about my teasing demand, but now I came alert.

“If we could go back to Princess Zoe’s ball and do it over, you know what I’d do?”

“What?” I slid my hand beneath her hair, caressing her nape.

“I wouldn’t have disappeared like that. I had to leave with Victorine—I would’ve been dead otherwise—but I would’ve found a way to get a message to you. Maybe we could’ve met up now and then.”

I shook my head. “No.”

“No?” She sounded disappointed.

“It wouldn’t have been enough.”
