“Great.” Cillian chimes.“Fiona will be over the moon. She has always wanted to walk down the aisle in the church her mother and I married.”

“I’m not marrying her at a church. We will marry in two days or not at all.” I’m not playing any games. I won’t give them any opportunity to harm Ava. I will kill them all if anything does happen to her.

“But,” Cillian starts.

“It’s a great idea.” My father interrupts. It guarantees the union, which is the only thing he cares about.“There is no need to wait. We will make the preparations. We will have the wedding at my house. We can even have the press there.” He doesn’t care about the press. To him, it’s about getting the word out quickly. Letting everyone know he controls everything.

“Let me know the time.” I stand to leave.

“You have done the right thing. Your girl gets to breathe another day.” My father adds. I’m going to turn, but Oliver pulls me. I swear, I just want to deck Oliver.

“Have Ava’s things packed and stored,” I order once we are outside. I haven’t let anyone touch her things.

“Consider it done. What else can I do?”

“Find her.” With those words, I get in my car and drive off. Leaving him standing in front of the restaurant.

Chapter Three

Ava

Another day. The days are melting together. Viktor hasn’t tried calling me in the last few days. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed. Even though I never answered his calls or texts, somehow, it made me feel close to him. I have been staring at the ceiling with no energy to stand. I’m grateful I don’t have to work today. I haven’t been feeling well. But I won’t sleep the day away or lay in bed thinking of Viktor. I refuse to be one of those women. I get out of bed with the little energy I have and make my way to the kitchen.

“Good morning,” Lisa greets.“Still not feeling well?”

“I think I am coming down with something. It’s been so crazy the last few weeks. I think I wore myself out.”

“I feel like that sometimes. Before I forget. I know it is my turn to get groceries, but I have to work late today. Do you think you can get them?”

“I have nothing better to do. I could use the distraction.” I smile.

“Awesome. The list is on the fridge. Let me get you the money.”

“It’s ok. I got it.”

“I can’t have you pay for everything. We are supposed to split expenses.”

“I won’t die if I buy groceries this week.” I tease.

“I am buying next week then.” She tells me.

“If it makes you happy, have at it.”

“Thanks. I am going to be home pretty late tonight. I’ll see you in the morning.”

“Ok, have a productive day.”

“I’ll try. I left you coffee in the pot.”

“Thanks.”

I walk over to the fridge and take the grocery list. At least I won’t be moping around the apartment. I think of getting coffee, but my stomach feels queasy. No need to make it worse, so I skip it. In my room, I go to the drawers for clothes. They are practically empty. I left everything at Viktor’s. At some point, I need to buy clothes. Maybe I’ll go shopping for clothes today. I take a quick shower. Back in my bedroom, as I get dressed, my phone beeps. I walk over, holding my breath. Maybe Viktor has finally decided to reach out. I’m disappointed when I see it’s Tina.

Tina: You’ve been MIA. I texted yesterday. Where are you? Have to talk to you. Call me ASAP

Her words make me nervous. Has something happened to Viktor? Is that why he hasn’t reached out? Without another thought, I dial. I hold my breath, preparing for the worse.

“Finally. I thought we agreed you would stay in contact.” Tina greets.
