“Room for one more?” Victor asks, startling me.

“Moot point considering you’re already entering the shower.”

“I’m a gentleman, so I don’t assume.”

I can’t help but laugh. “Some gentleman you are. My body is sore and in need of a massage.”

“I can arrange that. Do you want it here or in the bed?” Viktor kisses my neck, steering my attention away from my sore muscles.

“Viktor,” I start, but he moves his kisses lower.

“Hmm,” he hums, his voice vibrating on my skin.

I don’t utter another word. He picks me up, and I wrap my legs around his waist. He pushes me against the wall, and before I know it, he’s thrusting inside me.

So much for leaving quickly to get the kids.

I never stood a chance.

ChapterThirty-Eight

Viktor

As the water hits my head, I clear my mind of thoughts. I have a long day ahead of me. Ava just left the shower to get ready and collect our kids.

I’m grateful my mother offered to take them after the funeral yesterday. I didn’t realize how much I needed time alone with Ava. With everything going on, we haven’t spent much time together.

I turn off the water and grab a towel. A lot still needs to be done regarding the Irish and my father’s men. As I get dressed, my cell rings. It’s Angus.

He shouldn’t be calling at this hour.

I’m so eager to grab my cell, I fumble. “What’s wrong?” I ask after pushing my cell against my ear.

“Good morning, Ceannard—”

“Cut the pleasantries. Speak, Angus.”

He gets straight to the point. “It isn’t bad news exactly.”

“Then what is it.”

I leave the bathroom and make my way to the closet.

“Your father’s top men have requested an audience, including Bobby.”

“I was wondering when the snake would come out of hiding. Arrange it,” I order.

Angus puts steps into play. “Where?”

“The docks. It’s time to clean house.”

“What do you want to do about the restaurant?”

I haven’t thought about the restaurant in a long time. “I’m not sure. I need to speak with my mother.”

“Any particular time you want to hold the meeting?”

“This afternoon. Let’s get this shit over with,” Ava enters the bedroom, prompting me to hang up.
