“Let’s just say I wasn’t always a Manarch Clan Brother.” His words remind me how he never talks about himself, at least not with me.

“What now? We didn’t find anything.”

“We found plenty.” Grinning, he exits the building. “We can track his employee keycard.”

“Okay.”

“It’s going to be a long night. You’re buying dinner and beers.” There is humor in his voice.

I shake my head to hide my grin. “If I must.”

“You must.” He chuckles.

A few minutes later, we get in the car and drive off.

“I can’t look at any more footage,” Ray says while rubbing his eyes with the back of his hand.

“You complain too much.” I laugh.

“Aye,” Angus agrees.

“I need another beer,” Ray adds. “Shouldn’t we try to see who hired the hitman?”

“How? To determine that, we need to know who he is,” I remind him.

“I get that. But there has to be another way,” Ray states with pursed lips.

“I’ve been thinking about that,” Angus replies, drawing my focus to him.

“What are you thinking?” I ask Angus.

“It has to be someone who knew Fiona would be at the hotel,” he answers.

My heart rate picks up. “That makes sense. Ava mentioned Fiona came to take Aisling. Is it possible that Fiona hired him herself?”

“She doesn’t have the balls,” Ray sneers out.

“I beg to differ,” Viktor interjects, shocking me. I didn’t know he was coming to Eros.

“What are you doing here?”

“Last I checked, this was my nightclub.” He joins us at our makeshift command center. “Also, Ava kicked me out. She said she needed a break from me.”

His reply makes me laugh. “Is Ava already tired of you? Not a good look for you.”

“Shut the fuck up. How about you tell me what you guys are examining?” Viktor stares at a dozen laptops showing footage of the hotel.

“Pull up a chair,” I suggest. “We figured out how the shooter got in and possibly out. But it’s been hard to find him since we don’t know what he looks like.”

“And what was that bit about Fiona?” Viktor asks.

“Fiona was behind all the attempts against Ava while Ava was pregnant. It wouldn’t be much of a stretch to think she was behind this one too. Ava said that Fiona seemed surprised to see her at the suite. I think Fiona hired someone to kill Ava while she took Aisling. It’s the only thing that makes sense,” I elaborate.

“But there’s no way to confirm that. She’s dead,” Ray remarks.

“I have access to her financials because of the divorce,” Viktor adds.
