I’m almost at the gate when my cell rings. It nearly gives me a heart attack. I ignore the call since the gates are opening.

About halfway out the gate, my cell rings again.

I ignore it again.

Once outside the gates, I’m preparing to floor the gas when it rings a third time. This time, I glance at the screen. It’s Angus.

What did I expect?

I hit the gas before I answer.

“Hello.”

“Ava, where are you going?” He sounds pissed, even with his heavy Scottish accent.

Too focused on my plan to hear the worry in his voice, I order, “Keep my daughter safe.”

“What did you find out?” When I don’t answer his question, he tries another tactic. “Don’t do this.”

“I need your word, Angus. Tell me you will keep Aisling safe.”

“Tell me where you’re going, then I’ll promise.” When this plea doesn’t work, he tries another, “Let me come with you.”

“Angus…”

He takes a deep breath.

“Aye. But I’m calling Viktor,” he finally concedes.

“You do what you need to. I’ll do the same.”

I hang up before he can speak another word, then I enter the address into the GPS. I curse when I realize I’ll be close to Cillian’s deadline.

As I drive, I think about what Anita said. I need a plan. I know I’m walking into a trap, but I can’t let that stop me. If Niko is there, I need to do everything in my power to bring him home.

Before I know it, the GPS tells me I’m five minutes from my destination. I’m in an industrial area. It’s the perfect place to make someone disappear.

I’m three minutes away when my cell rings. The song ‘For You’ by Liam Payne and Rita Ora starts playing.

Angus got hold of Viktor.

“Hello,” I answer, suddenly fretful.

“What the fuck are you doing, Ava?” Viktor fires off a second question before I can answer his first. “Where are you going?”

“I can’t tell you.”

His fear resonates down the line when he shouts, “You have no idea what you’re heading into.”

His brutal swallow sounds down the line when the GPS announces I’ve arrived at my destination.

“I love you, Viktor.”

“Ava!” he screams, but I’m done talking.

I pull up to a factory building. Two SUVs are parked at one side, and about a dozen men are standing around. I don’t see Niko or Cillian, but the lighting is shit. I park, put the SUV keys in my pocket, then text Oliver the address. Of course, he will tell Viktor, but Oliver will force him to make a plan before blazing in.

Ava:258 Drake.Make a plan. Two SUVs, at least a dozen men in plain sight. Lighting sucks. No matter what, get Niko first
