“You’re a pain in the ass, Aerin ...”He frowns, but the corner of his lip lifts.“Are you still Cooperson-Bancroft?”

I grin proudly.“A lot of people have trouble pronouncing the whole last name, so I let them call me: Dr.C.”

Greyson bobs his head and focuses on Sanford.“You heard the doctor. We’re staying in Seattle, not Nowhere-Luna-Harbor.”

Sanford’s gaze meets mine, intense and unwavering.“We will have to live in Luna Harbor for some periods. My shop is there,” he warns me, as if he’s already deciding our future.

All I can ask is, “A shop?”

“He’s now a tattoo artist,” Greyson mumbles in response.

“You own a tattoo parlor?”The words drop from my lips like a question mark, spinning in the air between us.

Sanford’s shoulder shrugs slightly.“I can ink you in my shop anytime you want—on any part of your gorgeous body.”He winks at me.

Sanford’s insinuation catches me off guard, leaving me momentarily flustered. The air crackles with tension as his words hang in the space between us.

“Now that you all agree where you’re going, can we go back to our current meeting?”Lang interrupts before any of us can speak.

Sanford’s glare lands on Greyson and me.“If either one of you ditch the security details, I swear I’ll make sure you’re sent to a private island until this is over.”

Laughter bubbles up in me at his dramatic threat.Greyson’s grin mirrors mine as we share the moment.

“Since when did he become all bossy?”I quip, my gaze shifting back to Sanford who’s slowly walking away.

Greyson shrugs, the hint of a smirk playing on his lips.“I’m not sure, but I gotta admit, he’s hot when he goes all alpha. It makes me pretty hard, which shouldn’t happen because ...”He lets out a breath.“You don’t need to know that part of our life just yet.”

If he’s referring to the vicious cycle of angry sex, Sanford already told me, but since I want to ease this up I say, “But we both know he’s a marshmallow deep down.”

Greyson mimics zipping his lips and throws away the imaginary key.“Shush, we shouldn’t give away his secret.”

Our laughter subsides, and I turn serious.“Are you okay with going to Seattle?”

He shakes his head, sighing heavily.“I’m going to have to see my family sooner than expected.Especially since I’ll be working at their bars.”

“Do you have to?”

Grey nods.“Yeah, I’ve been slowly taking over.Dad loves the bars but can’t handle the late nights.”

I search his face, looking for any signs of reluctance.“Is that something you enjoy?”

His grin is wide and genuine.“Actually, I do.You should come with me so you can see it,” he says.“You might enjoy it too.”

I pause, a thought nagging me.“What about your music?Don’t you want to continue playing?”

“I do.If I feel like I have to escape with it, we organize tours.Other times I just play in one of our venues.”

So maybe he’s not as lost as Sanford made it sound, or maybe I’m not looking at the big picture.I know we can’t get back to who we were before, but they can find themselves.Play a different tune, create a new symphony where hopefully everyone gets to be a part of.

Can we rebuild what’s been shattered, breathe life into the ashes of our love?

And I do know that hope can be found even in the darkest corners of our hearts.

ChapterThirteen

Greyson

“Talk about fucking manifestation,”Aerin grumbles, her voice echoing through the expansive entryway of the house.
