Aerin gives me an unamused glare.“That’s not a mojito. It’s an anomaly.”

“That’s exactly what I thought,” I grunt.“What is with these people thinking we’re Starbucks?Make it big and hold the foam.”

“Who asked you to hold the foam?”she asks suspiciously.“You’re just making shit up.”

“Nope.Someone asked me for a sour whiskey without the foam.”

Aerin tosses her head, releasing a throaty laugh.“No, they didn’t.”

“Shoo, wait your tables,” Grey says, approaching us.Tenderly, he leans in and presses a soft kiss on Aerin’s neck.“Are you here to complain again?”

“I’m done,” I protest.

Grey arches an eyebrow, wondering what’s happening.

“He can’t handle the special orders,” Aerin interjects, her eyes narrowing in solidarity.

“Someone wanted extra club soda on their margarita?”he asks, the corners of his lips curling with a wry smile.

“No, worse,” Aerin retorts, her face grimacing. She mimics a gagging sound, emphasizing her disbelief.“They want tequila in their mojito.”

“If there’s something Dad always told me, it is that the customer is always right,” Grey says.“So ...let’s make the abomination and continue working.”

“He looks happy,” I say, just noticing that he’s been a lot like his old self the entire day.

“Depression meds,” Aerin says.

“You know, I still hate that fucking biography, but thank you for publishing it.”

She shrugs one shoulder.“It brought hope.”

Not only hope, but her.She finally came back to complete us.It’s going to take some time to fuse all the shattered parts, but I have nothing but time for them.I lean closer and kiss her before heading back to work.As the night wears on, the bar fills up.The chatter, the clinking of glasses, and old music on the speakers keep me from flipping out on customers who can’t appreciate a good drink.

I share a flirtatious banter with Aerin, tease Greyson about his mixing skills, and even manage to charm a few customers.

But as the night progresses, the adrenaline that fueled me begins to wane, leaving aching exhaustion in its wake.We begin the arduous task of cleaning, and as I move boxes from the back to the front, I nearly collide with Greyson.

“Hey,” he whispers.

“You okay?”

He nods, a hint of fatigue evident in his eyes.“A bit tired. We should’ve closed earlier.”

I lift my hands as if saying, “Don’t ask me.You were the one who wanted to keep it open until the patrons left.”

“We’re almost done. Then I’ll take you home,” I whisper, kissing the corner of his lip.

He reaches out, his touch gentle against my neck, pulling me closer. Our lips meet in a tender kiss.Emotions intertwine, swirling with longing and aching desire, as our connection rekindles, filling the air with a swoon-worthy sensation.

When we finally pull away, the world seems brighter, more vivid. There’s a newfound energy coursing through me, the earlier fatigue washed away by the surge of emotions.

“Come on,” I mumble, kissing his forehead softly.“Let’s finish so we can get home.I have plans for you and Ae.Tomorrow, we’re going to Luna Harbor.”

ChapterThirty-Two

Aerin

As we steponto the ferry bound for Luna Harbor, a surge of anticipation fills me.I lean against the railing, my eyes fixed on the vast expanse of water stretching before us.The city skyline recedes into the distance, growing smaller with each passing moment.
