She takes my hand and leads me off the subway, up the stairs and to the street. I look around, hoping something familiar will pop out at me but it is just a random spot in the city I have no ties to. Dylan smiles at me looking around and then pauses in front of me, both of us stepping to the side as not to be in the way of any passing people.

“I’m taking you somewhere you’ve been wanting to go, you’ll have no limit, and I want you to get something you’ve wanted for a long time.”

“Okay….” I let my voice trail, I still don’t know where she is taking me.

“Come on.” She pulls me by the hand down two more blocks and then stops in front of…a tattoo shop? That can’t be right. I look at her confused.

“You’re taking me to get a tattoo?”

“Yes, you said you’ve been saving up for them and I wanted to treat you to one. We have all day and no budget, so get whatever your heart desires.” Dylan smiles happily.

“Are you serious?!” I exclaim. This has to be the nicest things anyone has ever done for me. I mean, tattoos aren’t cheap.

“I am, I figured being an artist and being you, you have some ideas saved. This artist is a friend of mine and she does incredible stuff, I thought you’d like her style based on the artists you like.” Dylan’s gift is not only incredibly kind, it’s thoughtful and well planned. My eyes brim over with tears and I wipe them away before she notices.

“Thank you, this is seriously the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me.” I smile.

“Anything for mygirlfriend,” she says with a wink.

“I could just wait until I go home next, my sister is a tattoo artist,” I remind her.

“I know, but this way I could be a part of it.” She smiles. “Come on, I want you to meet her.”

“Okay.” I nod and rush inside the shop behind her.

“Rose?” Dylan walks in and calls out to the empty shop. A minute later, this blue haired vixen walks out. Taller legs than Dylan, curves for days, and a cherry red smile to match. She is beautiful.

“Dylan! It’s so good to see you.” As the two share a short hug, I wonder how well the two of them know each other.

“Hi, I’m Dylan’s girlfriend, Isabella.” I smile introducing myself with a handshake between the two.

“Of course! Dylan’s told me all about you.” Rose smiles and leans in to give me a hug. All right, I guess I didn’t need to worry about her after all.

“What kind of tattoo did you want to get today? As you can see, I’m all yours.” She references the empty room.

“I have a few ideas, but I’d love to see your work before deciding.”

“Of course!” She takes me by the hand, leaving Dylan standing by the door, and leads me to the back where she keeps some of her work. She hands me an oversized book and I begin to look through it. Her work is just as beautiful as she is.

“This is truly incredible,” I whisper.

“Thank you, I’ve been doing this for a long time. I like to think I’ve gotten better with age,” she says with a laugh.

“Well, I definitely know what I want now.” I smile.

“What is it?” Dylan says, startling me. How long has she been standing there?

“Nope, you wanted to surprise me, so I get to surprise you. You can see it when it’s all done.”

“You’re not getting matching tattoos or something are you?” Rose asks wide eyed.

“No.” I shake my head.

Rose lets out a breath. “Thank goodness, I don’t do couple tattoos. They always come back months later to tell me how they broke up and it’s my fault.”

“No, we’re, uh, not there yet,” I lie. I don’t think Dylan and I will ever get matching tattoos for a multitude of reasons.

“Okay. So tell me your ideas.” Rose shoos away Dylan to the front where she starts working on her laptop she brought with her.
