I place my hand over my sister’s mouth; she doesn’t need to finish that sentence.

“Come on, it’s late, let’s get back to the palace where we can rest and work out a plan of attack for your family,” the prince says, holding out his hand to me. I go willingly.

“Wow, your muscles have muscles.” Skylar chuckles as she links arms with Greyson and feels up his arm as they walk behind us.

“Your sister is a character, isn’t she?” The prince chuckles.

“She’s harmless,” I tell him.

“I think she’s great.” He smiles widely and it makes my stomach flutter. “I’m sorry about your other sister. That wasn’t at all how I wanted tonight to go for you.”

“It’s complicated between her and Dante,” I tell him on a sigh.

“I noticed there seems to be some history there between them,” the prince says, looking over at me.

“All I know is it was young love. Then something happened and now she hates him,” I explain to him.

“Looks to me there might be unfinished business too.”

“I think you might be right,” I agree with him. “Thanks again for coming and checking in on me. You weren’t expecting all this drama when you chose me, I’m sorry.”

“Don’t think things are going to be boring with you around.” He chuckles.

“Give me boring any day. I’ve had enough of this roller-coaster life.”

“I promise I’ll help you work it all out,” he tells me, and I can see the sincerity in his eyes—he means it.

GREYSON

The girls fall asleep on the plane as we head back to Friendsburg. It’s been a big day and night and it’s almost day again.

“What the hell happened tonight?” I ask Auggie.

“It’s been an adventure,” he says with a chuckle.

“You’re not having second thoughts, are you?” I ask him.

“Hell no.”

Thank goodness.

“Rosalie needs our help as much as we need hers. This is going to work out perfectly, I know it,” he says, reaching out and linking our hands together.

We sit in silence, reflecting on everything that happened today.

“You think her sister is going to be okay with that Carandini guy?” I ask.

“I sure as hell hope so.”

“Did you see when he pulled out that ring and her face softened. It felt like we were watching an intimate moment between the two of them. It was strange, wasn’t it?” I ask him.

“Rosalie said hers and the Carandini family go back generations. That her sister and that guy were first loves. Something happened and they haven’t spoken in years, not till today,” Auggie explains.

“He was hot, in a dark and mysterious way,” I say with a grin.

“As was his friend,” Auggie adds and we both chuckle. “Rosalie assured me her sister would be okay. But I don’t like it. I’m going to organize a meeting with Michael this week and ask him to investigate the succession law for Aegina. He’s the only person that can help them,” Auggie tells me.
