Sonia cleared her throat. “I guess the chatting’s done. You said ‘get ready to run.’ I’m ready.”

He kept his hand cupped around her jaw. “Are you sure about this?”

“You mean, playing chase?”

“I just want to make sure we’re alone in the house. And that no one’s going to show up unexpectedly.”

Sonia coughed. “Don’t worry. No one will. Why are you stalling?”

“I don’t only want to chase you,” Brendan said quietly, steeling himself for Sonia’s judgment. “There’s more, and you might not like it.”

“Go ahead.” She gestured for him to talk. “That’s what we’re here for.”

Instead, he found himself flashing his most charming smile. “Why don’t we just hook up? We don’t need all these rules, baby. I’ll make you feel so good—”

“Nope.” Sonia stepped back and crossed her arms. She studied him with pursed lips, making him feel like he’d lost whatever game they were playing. He could practically see the scoreboard on the wall: Brendan zero, Sonia triple digits. Brendan didn’t like to lose.

“I want you to fight me,” he blurted out.

Red tinged Sonia’s cheeks. “Fight you? How?”

“Forget it.”

“No, please.” Sonia looked almost as surprised at that ‘please’ as Brendan felt. “You can tell me.”

“Why? You set this whole thing up like it’s all for me, but you’re running the show. You’re controlling everything.” With an uncomfortable needling sensation, Brendan realized how much the tables were turned. He’d always been the one to run the show, to pull the strings. “Why should I trust you?”

“I don’t know. Because I won’t tell anyone and I’ll be honest with you too? I can handle whatever crazy shit you say. Trust that, at least.” Sonia put her hand on his wrist, flooding him with a confusing surge of warmth. “Look, I can’t even explain why. All I know is that I have a feeling. Ever have one of those? A feeling?”

“Once or twice.” His stomach clenched, but his body went hot with lust. Leaning down, he put his lips by her ear. “Okay, Sonia,” he whispered. “I’ll tell you. I want you to run from me, and when I catch you, I want you to fight me as hard as you can.” He felt a twinge of embarrassment. “Kick, hit, everything. Tell me what a bastard I am as I touch you, because you can’t stand to have my hands on you. You hate me too much to ever let me fuck you, but I’m going to anyway. And no matter how hard you fight, there isn’t a damn thing you can do about it.”

Sonia’s eyes widened, barely visible in the fading light. A shudder ran down her body.

“Go on,” she breathed. “Keep talking.”

“Say please,” Brendan prompted.

“Please,” she echoed, moving closer to him.

“Even when I make you feel good…” He hesitated, and Sonia nodded at him to keep going. “You’re going to deny it. You’re going to fight me and you’re going to tell me how much you hate me and you’re going to resist me all the way.”

She swallowed. “Do you want me to stop resisting once you’re inside me?”

Brendan’s cock jumped. “No. Keep fighting me to the end. You hate me, Sonia. You hate everything about me, and I’m going to get you off and fuck you no matter what.”

She studied him, a genuine smile spreading across her face. “Well, shit. You have all the fun ideas, don’t you?”

It shocked Brendan that she was so accepting. “You like that, sunshine? Struggling while I take you?”

Her fingers brushed his face. “With you, I do.”

Need swept through his body. She trusted him. She wanted him. She’d go where he led.

He just hoped she wouldn’t change her mind.

“It makes total sense,” she added, running her fingertips down his chest with surprising gentleness. “I’m sure it’s a lot of work, playing the golden boy all the time, pretending to be so nice and good. You must be exhausted. Go ahead and let it out, Brendan. You can be bad here. I told you to use my body however you want to. I think it’s hot as hell.”

His cock was ready to burst through his slacks, and he wanted to bypass the chase so he could tear Sonia’s clothes off right here in the foyer and take her on the floor.
