“What else?”

She ran her fingers over his chest, playing with the strap crossing it from left shoulder to right hip. “I think we should skip the small talk and slip into one of the private rooms before everyone arrives and wants to chat.”

He loved it when she expressed herself so boldly. “Eager, are we?”

“Maybe. There’s something about you wearing this that makes me excited.”

This was basically camo pants, heavy black boots, a black wife-beater, and a plastic rifle strapped across his back. Not the most imaginative costume, he could admit, but it was better than Jasper’s, and it seemed to push his bunny’s buttons.

Win-win.

“Tell me, Caera, what you want.” He cupped her cheek, his palm finding its perfect spot against her face. “Not sex. Tell me what you want from us.”

“I have everything,” she said quietly. “You’ve given me everything I want, all that I need. I’m here because you saw me and what I needed, Saul. You’re the only reason I am.”

“This is all you want us to be?”

“No.” Although color infused her cheeks, she didn’t back down. “I want us to be forever. I want us to be happy, and in love, and part of each other for the rest of our lives. If that means…marriage and c-children,” she stuttered softly, “then that’s okay with me. What about you?”

“I want you to live and be happy. For you,” he said with a smile, “but for me as well. I want to know that everything you do is for me, just as everything I do is for you.”

“Even sleeping?” Her lips brushed his cheek.

“Especially that. Sleep for me, dream of me.” He kissed her harder, thinking of all the nights he laid beside her in bed, riding the barest edge of sleep himself to keep her safe, and the way she infiltrated even that light doze. “I love you, Caera. I’ll cherish whatever you have to give.”

Happiness illuminated the green of her eyes, so full of life now after years of drowning. “You have me.”

That, to his mind, was pretty fucking perfect.

The End
