“You don’t have to do anything. Just sit there and I’ll do all the work.” She trails a finger over my cheek and across my jaw.

“Stevie.” My voice is low and deep.

“No one has to know,” she whispers as she runs her nose along mine.

“Stevie.” My voice is more stern this time.

“I promise.” Her lips move an inch closer to mine.

“Stevie.” I pull back and stare into her eyes. At one time, she could get me to do whatever she wanted with this same look, but not anymore. “This isn’t happening.” With my hands on her waist, I easily lift and move her off me. She exhales a whine and pouts her lips. I stand with the blanket wrapped around my waist. “I’m going to take a shower. You’re going to get dressed in some real clothes. And don’t even think about joining me.” Before she can respond, I stomp to my bathroom, the door slamming behind me.

When I get out of the shower, I grab a black Henley and jeans from the stack of clothes I took out of my room last night. My bedroom door is closed, so I assume Stevie has locked herself inside. I yell to her that I’m leaving, but I don’t get an answer.

On my way out to my truck, I call Olivia and tell her to meet me at the garage. I owe her a ride on my motorcycle. Today couldn’t be any more perfect. The sun is shining bright, and the wind is minimal. Plus, it’s the perfect excuse to get out of my house and away from Stevie.

When I pull into the parking lot of the shop, Olivia pulls in right behind me and parks next to my truck. Before she can get out, I’m opening her door and pulling her into my arms. I spin us around before setting her on the ground.

She squeals with laughter. “What’s wrong?”

“What do you mean, what’s wrong?”

Her piercing blue gaze meets mine. “This isn’t like you. I’m not complaining, but it’s unexpected.”

“I’m happy to see you. And I have a surprise.”

Her eyes widen. Not in excitement, but horror. “I’m not big on surprises. One time in college I went to surprise my friend for her birthday, and I was the one that got the surprise. My boyfriend was cheating on me, and I caught them in her dorm room. He told me he went on a guy’s trip.”

“So, one time?” I raise an eyebrow.

“Not true. Another time I was planning a surprise party for my boyfriend and right before everyone jumped out and said surprise, he dumped me. Right in front of all our friends and family.”

I flinch. “That’s a little more harsh.”

“That’s not all. But now can you see why I don’t like surprises.”

I bend at the knees so I’m eye level. “How about this? I can promise you none of that’s going to happen today. Okay?”

Her gaze searches mine, but she reluctantly nods.

“Wait here. I’ll be right back.” I clasp her cheeks between my palms and kiss her. Hopefully, that will leave her thinking about me instead of something potentially disastrous happening.

When I told her I’d take her out on my bike, I knew I wanted to take her up to a friend’s property along the shore. It’s quiet and secluded. The perfect location to spend the afternoon. I rush to my office and grab a small blanket I have tucked away in a closet before returning to the garage. When I reach my bike in the far corner, I load the blanket into one of the saddlebags, then open the smaller of the three overhead garage doors. I hop on my bike and roll it out on to the blacktop.

As soon as Olivia sees my bike, she rushes over to me, the biggest smile lighting up her face.

“Is this my surprise? Are you taking me for a ride?”

“No. We’re just going to sit out here and admire it.” I give her a teasing smile.

“Smartass.” She playfully slaps my forearm.

She looks down at her outfit. “We might have a problem. I think the skinny jeans and t-shirt will be fine, but what about these?” She lifts her foot with the three-inch heel and gives it a shake.

“You’d look pretty hot wearing those while you sit on the back of my bike.”

“Is that so?” She gives me a flirty smile.

“Fuck yeah.” I wrap an arm around her waist and pull her to me. “Wearing nothing but a white bra and panties and those heels.”
