“No!” I burst out. “I saw the way you were watching me when I was dancing with Atkins the other night. I was thinking maybe we could do a little Spanish dancing of our own.”

“The only kind of dancing I’m interested in is the horizontal mambo.”

I blow a bubble and pop it. “You’re crazy, you know that?”

“Crazy for you,” he says, voice low and heated.

My heart hitches. “I might be a little crazy for you, too. But I haven’t quite decided yet,” I tease him.

“You’re so mean to me.”

“Mean? If I recall, I was very nice to you the other night. First, I bent over that desk and then I took you in my mouth and…well, you know the rest.”

“About that…” he says, voice rough. “That thing you did with the water in your mouth…”

I grin and wait to see what he’ll say, but he doesn’t elaborate. “Yes?” I press.

“Well, if you ever want to do it again, I’m game.”

I chuckle. “I’m sure you are.” Blowing another bubble, I think of all the other fun little things I learned from that book.Oh, Kane, you are in for quite a few pleasant surprises.

Suddenly, I spot Atkins’s Mercedes SUV pulling out of the west exit of the garage. “He’s leaving! West exit, Kane.”

“I’m on it,” he assures me and I watch as he pulls away from the curb, turns the corner and begins to follow Atkins.

“Heading down,” I tell him. “Keep me posted.”

“Roger.”

“And be careful.”

“I will,” he assures me.

I hurry back down to the street level, cross the intersection and wait to hear from Kane. My stupid earpiece crackles with interference and I pluck it out with a grimace. This thing has been on my nerves this whole mission. I have to remember to tell Dash we need new ones.

“Hello, Ava.”

My head snaps up and I’m thrown to see Bartholomew Atkins standing two feet away from me. “Hi, Bart,” I answer with a grin that I hope appears natural.

What the hell?I thought he was in his SUV.

“What’re you doing over here?” he asks, moving closer.

“Just out seeing the city. Seville is beautiful and I-”

Two men appear on either side of me and I tense, prepared to fight them off if necessary.

“Let’s cut the bullshit, shall we?” Bart says, voice low and ominous.

I don’t say anything, but eye my possible exit routes. Sliding my hand in my pocket, I try to appear nonchalant as I tuck the earpiece inside.

“How about we go for a ride?” Bart suggests.

“No, thanks. I’m waiting for my friend.”

“You mean yourbrother? He’s going to be out on a joyride for a while.”

Oh, crap. I’m furious with myself for letting this jerk-off somehow get two steps ahead of us. I’m not sure how it happened, but it’s clear he’s onto us and I need to get out of here fast before things go sideways.
