“Who are these people?” I closed the car door and looked around.

Mikhail armed the car. “Security. Let's get inside.”

Once inside, I followed them to the kitchen table.

Zakhar was already sitting there. “I got a cryptic text from Viktor. He’s on his way. What is going on?”

Mikhail looked at me. “Cian turned himself in to Le earlier tonight. He promised to deliver me to him, so that they’ll keep him alive for now. Tarion reach out to some of your friends and find out what Le is up to.”

“On it boss,” said Tarion. He picked up a black laptop and turned it on.

Mikhail took out his phone and frowned. Everyone became silent. “Hello.”

Is that Cian? Who could be calling him?

“Mikhail trace this line and meet me here as soon as possible. My shadow must remain alive,” said Cian.

Mikhail jumped up and pushed Tarion out of the way. Soon he was rapidly typing on the computer. “Stay on the phone. I don’t have your location yet. Got it.”

He hung up the phone. “There's been a change of plans. Jetmira and Anya both of you are going with me.”

She stood and cracked her neck muscles. “Do I need to take anything special with me?”

He smiled. “Nope. Besa, help my brother with the rest of the arrangements.

Irma tilted her head. “What do you want me to do?”

Mikhail nodded. “You ladies will need a fancy outfit for Vesim’s party. If you get that taken care of, it will be a large load lifted off our shoulders.”

“I don't think Anya should go. She's a liability. She'll do nothing but get all of us killed.”

Bitch.

“Don't worry she isn't going,” said Mikhail.

Once we got in the car, she turned to me. “I don't give a fuck what your deal is, but you're going to follow Mikhail’s orders to the letter. If not, I'll put a bullet in your head. It's your choice, so choose wisely.”

I smiled wide. “I'm going to do what the fuck I want to do. I'll kill you before you even realize what's happening.”

Mikhail cleared his throat. “Cian has a man with him. We can't kill him. To keep him alive, it's best if you follow my plan.”

“Fine. Let’s get him back safely.”

Mikhail pulled the car into an expensive neighborhood and pulled down a street that ended in a cul de sac. After he drove into the garage, she pulled out a gun when the door closed.

I held out my hand to her. “Hey, I could use a weapon. She glared at me. I'm not giving you anything and you aren't allowed to kill.”

Jetmira slid the weapon underneath her skirt. She walked over to the wall and placed her hand on it. After a few minutes, a keypad emerged and she punched in a code. The floor opened to reveal a hidden passage underground. Within minutes she disappeared.

I cleared my throat. “Are we going through the secret passage like she did?”

He was staring at his phone. “Yes, but not until the shadow is in her hands.”

Twenty-five minutes later she sent him a video of an Asian man lying unconscious in her arms.

He walked to the same wall. “Let’s go.”

Unlike her, a tiny red dot flashed, the floor opened and he ran down the steps. The tunnel led all the way to Cun’s house. We ended up inside his laundry room. Stepping over three unconscious security guys, I crept through the door. A hand clamped over my mouth and thrust me against the wall.
