PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC

I blinked as a bright light came on in the van. There were four men with their weapons drawn, pointed at my head. The first thing I noticed was that they didn't look like made men. They looked like pigs. The last place I needed to be was in their custody. Yeah, I was ninety nine percent sure that the Feds had kidnapped me. The window above opened and I saw Two women up front. In total there were six armed FBI agents here. This meant there was a secret FBI location somewhere in Prague. They had been watching them for criminal activity going on here. We came on their radar when we flew here.

The man smiled and two dimples appeared at his cheek. “My name is Jayden Asher. The man to the left of me is named Logan Carey, and the man to his left is Ethan Sacher.”

Agent Asher took out his badge so that I could look at it. “We’re the FBI. We need to ask you some questions.”

My hands were tightly cuffed behind my back so that I was unable to move them. “You kidnapped me to ask me some questions. You’ve violated my rights. Let me go.”

“No Miss Aslanov. Technically we aren't here, therefore, we haven't violated any of your rights. My name is agent Tamsyn Munoz, the two women up front are...”

I don’t need this bullshit.

I was certain that when I didn't come back into that house, Mikhail would check the cameras and see that I had been taken again. It was bad enough that Cian was in danger but he might assume The Dragons had taken me.

This is worse than I thought.

The government was never honest. They were notoriously shady and always getting their informants killed after they got the information they wanted. Our lives meant less than nothing to them. The facts were the facts. The government didn't pay good salaries for their employees, which was why most of them broke the law and aligned themselves with wealthy crime bosses. It was hard to remember morals when your family was scuffling and barely eating. Normally, I wouldn't care about these things, but this situation would determine whether I was going to live past today. I hadn’t planned to die in this country and I wasn't going to plan on it now.

My own twin hadn’t had faith that I wouldn’t abandon her. An image of her face flooded my mind, at the last time she burst into the bathroom on me. “Are you going to leave like mother did? She died. The way you’re living your life, it’s only a matter of time before someone kills you too.”

Scrubbing my body with the sponge, I looked at her. “I already tried dying, this is my attempt at living. We are twins, and I would never abandon you, ever. The day I leave you is the day I die. I promise to make sure you’re taken care of before I atone for my sins in death.”

Opening my eyes, I focused on the drab interior of the van as I let the memories recede in my mind. If I was going to keep my promise to Mila, I had to focus on the present not the past.

Logan leaned forward. “We know that you sent that information to the BIH, but you're going to help your country first. This is going to be the biggest mafia bust in history. It's going to be made on United States soil.”

“We will get the credit. We have been working our asses off and we’ve lost so many good men to these mafia assholes. It’s our time to win,” said Ethan.

I've resisted the urge to roll my eyes. The government pigs all acted the same. They were no better than the men they sought to put in jail. They were so blinded by their pride that they failed to see the countless lives they sacrificed to gain those wins. Let’s not discuss that most of them kept the drug money and drugs as perks.

I had to play this cool, and I had to be believable. I didn't care about them and I had no issues using them. If they wanted to throw my father in jail, I was fine with that. Mila and I would be free from him. I would never give them Arkan. That Serbian bastard was all mine. He would be too smart for them to punish so they would only be a thorn in his side.

“You’re right, I did send the information to Resul Jasarevic at the BIH. Their intelligence agency doesn’t have as many leaks and traitors as we do here in the United States. It was my last and final solution when I learned that father was planning to marry Mila to some famous hitman with a penchant for beating his women. My sister wouldn’t last a year under those conditions. I had to act quick. In the end, I failed because the FBI has done nothing, the BIH has done nothing and I was kidnapped and tortured.”

Jayden frowned. “I was aware of your disappearance and your father’s attempt to cover it up. I assumed that you had been kidnapped but tortured. You didn’t look like you had been mistreated. You walked outside freely but unarmed.”

Logan snorted. “Mikhail Vinogradov is clean except for his last name and connection to the Vinogradov family. His being here with you means that we missed something on him.”

I shrugged. “He saved me. He doesn’t trust me which is why I don’t have a weapon. God only knows what he planned to do with me. He is in the house with two females. There are six of you and three of them. Why don’t you capture him.”

If these idiots are stupid enough to attack Mikhail, we’ll kill all six of them and dispose of their bodies.

“His family is my father’s worse enemy. My dad hates them more than he hates you. I’m just trying to save my sister and me. We are like prisoners in our own home. Every sense my father went into business with Arkan, things have gotten progressively worse. I was hoping by getting Arkan and my father locked up, our lives would be easier. I only want Mila and I to be safe. We are not criminals. We've done nothing wrong, yet we live worse than slaves.”

Logan snorted. “I drive a Toyota and you have a Lamborghini. I’d say you live better than most people on Earth.”

I can't help you. I've been one pawn after another. I woke up here in Prague. I don't know who took me, or what they wanted. Mikhail doesn’t like me and I wasn’t getting any answers from him. I stepped outside to get a breath of fresh air, and you know the rest.”

Jayden nodded. “Everyone wants to kill your father. Your kidnapping has shaken him and whoever took you to draw him out and kill him. That would be a reasonable conclusion, but you were found here in Prague. It must be deeper than that.”

“My father is always doing something to someone. We get death threats daily. Every time you blink someone wants to kill him. To be honest with you, I was just grateful that I was rescued but not by my father's enemies. If I managed to get back home, my father will still kill me. There's no such thing as fatherly love, mercy, or grace with him. He will see me as a traitor. I’ll be executed.”

Ethan frowned. “You want us to believe that your own father will kill you. You’re his favorite.”

“There is no hope now that you have killed me. You might as well take your gun out, stick it in my mouth, and pull the trigger.”

Logan rolled his eyes. “You’re his daughter. He loves you.”
