I grabbed his face and leaned close. “Cian, I love you.”

He shook his head. “Your words fill my heart with joy but your expression is saying goodbye. Fix your face before I decide that we should get in the car and not look back.”

The doors of the church flew open and all eyes turned to us as we padded inside. The number of weapons out on display was comforting considering we could be attacked at any moment.

Cian led me down the aisle. He didn’t look happy to be here, but he’d dressed for the occasion. He was wearing a white tuxedo and I wore a white dress. The dress was one that I would never pick for myself. It was one that would make Mila happy. This was her day.

It was so conservative; I was hardly recognizable.

My face lit up when I saw her. “Oh my god. Mila.”

I tried to jerk away from Cian, but he wouldn’t allow me to put distance between us. After the short tug of war with me attempting to free my hand, I stomped my foot and started to sign.

“Cian I desperately need to love on my sister. I haven’t seen her and need to know that she is all right. This marriage is coming out of left field, and I want to hear from my sister that she’s marrying Viktor with her own free will.”

Cian smirked. “If Mila weren’t marrying him on her own there wouldn’t be anything you or I could do to stop Viktor. He wants what he wants.”

I watched him walk over to Viktor.

“I told you I didn’t want to bring her here. It’s not safe. You should postpone it and marry Mila after you’ve taken care of your business,” said Cian.

Viktor shook his head. “Hell no. If something happens to me, my brothers will take care of her but that wouldn’t provide the same protection as being my wife.”

He cracked his knuckles. “I have men outside as well as inside. Once we say our vows we are out of here. I would suggest you make your way back to your father with Anya. Felix is getting nervous and he’s unpredictable. If his men catch you alone with her, they will kill you and rape her. With her reputation she might not make it back to her father alive.”

Cian’s entire body tensed. “Right after your I dos we are gone. Hurry up Vik. I’m going to the bathroom. I suggest you start now before the hailstorm happens.”

Turning my gaze away from Cian, I noticed his tense exchange with Viktor, I studied my sister. She was stunning in her dress. She looked radiant and I hated to bring a dose of reality but I had to with Mila. Her head was always in the clouds.

I shook her. “Do you really want to marry Viktor. You don’t know the man. Don’t be an idiot. You need to come back with me. Both of us can overpower him or I’ll put a Percocet in his drink. When he falls asleep, we can go home.”

I don’t have any Percocet but it shouldn’t be too hard to get a few pills.

Mila cleared her throat. “Father Cohen, please give us a few minutes, my family has arrived from out of town.”

The preacher nodded and moved to the side. He wasn’t happy to be marrying them. It had something to do with all the guns. He was a man of the cloth, but he was like most people, bathed in greed with a soul dipped in iniquities.

“I’m not going back to Father’s house. I was almost raped by mercenaries and by Boris. Daddy has been putting his hand on me ever since you left.”

I knew that rat bastard was abusing her. She is always his punching bag.

“Mila you can’t stay with the enemy. Father won’t forgive you.”

She shrugged. “He’s been sending people for me for a while now. They have been shooting at me and trying to kill me. I’m not going back for him to snuff my light out.”

I rolled my eyes. “You’re always reading those kinky books, but this is real life. What made you think you could marry this man?”

Mila crossed her arms over her chest. “Daddy forced me into it. I haven’t chosen one thing regarding my life since I slipped out the womb. Daddy promised me to this man after he had given me to Boris.”

I looked away. The hurt in her voice was like daggers in my spine.

“You’re a bitch, Anya. You knew all along and you never said anything to me. How could you betray me like that?”

How did I betray you? I’ve done nothing but try to protect you. Our father gave you to Boris not me.

Raking a hand through my hair, I stared at her. “I tried to change his mind, but it didn’t work. I talked to Boris, but he was already dead set on having you. I thought he might have changed his mind when you started dating Daniel, but he threatened to kill Daniel if he touched you.”

She pushed me. “Get away from me. I never want to see you again.”
