I don’t want to.“All right. But shout if you need anything.”

“There is only one thing I could need from you. If you don’t mind losing a bet.”

“You can keep your million. Good night.”

He laughs when I leave the room.

As I move from the bathroom to my bedroom, I hear the TV downstairs and wonder what he’s watching.

None of your business. Get into bed.

I do exactly that and lay on my side in my comfortable spot, waiting to fall asleep.

When I wake, it’s 5:00 a.m., and I’m surprised I made it that long. Having Casper in the house makes me feel safe. Or maybe it was the alarm.

Has to be the alarm.

I stretch for a second and then get up for a quick shower.

When I get downstairs, he’s still on the sofa, his arm slung above his head, sleeping softly.

Do not stare.

Do not take a photo.

I step closer and clasp my hands together so that I’m not tempted to reach out. How is it possible to look this good?

“Casper,” I whisper. It’s now almost 5:45 a.m. and we have the shopping arriving soon.

Are we going to put it away together? That’s a very domesticated thing to do. I don’t think I’m ready for that level of normality.

He groans and mutters, “Want a million yet?”

“You haven’t even opened your eyes and you’re already propositioning me.”

Laughing, he looks up at me, and that dimpled smile makes me want to kiss him so badly.

“What about now?” he asks.

“I’ll make you coffee, and that’s it.”

“Your hair is damp.”

“I showered.”

His lips part. “Without me?”

“Coffee coming up,” I say, walking away and smiling to myself.

Casper follows me into the kitchen after a few minutes. He hasn’t put a T-shirt on, and it’s very distracting. I want to trace each dip between his muscles with my tongue.

Why didn’t I sneak down and watch him reading, shirtless?

“Did you sleep well?” he asks.

“I did. What about you? I don’t think the sofa is very comfortable. You should’ve taken my room and I could’ve stayed down here like you did for me.”
