“Wait for me.”

I roll my eyes and hold my hand up. “Casper, your mum has asked me to get this done so you need to get over it.”

“I said I’ll come with you after my meeting.”

What the hell is his problem? He doesn’t even live there anymore. Flora was called into court so told me to let myself in as she’s left what I need. Casper is not accepting it.

Dickhead.

“You said that a lot, but I’m going now. I need to get this done and send the invitations out.”

“For fuck’s sake, Ainsley. They all know the details, anyway. Every one of them work with my parents!”

“Yes, but your mum wants to send invitations out. For that to happen, I actually have to have this list. This isn’t an email blast kind of event, so can you stop being such a massive baby?”

He glares darkly, probably planning my murder. “You’re not going into my house alone.”

“That’s right, I’m not. I’m going into your parents’ house. With their permission. What’s your problem?”

“Fine. I’ll go with you now.”

“You have a meeting.”

“I don’t care.”

“What do you think I’m going to do there?” When I’m met with silence, I continue. “Steal you mum’s diamonds? Go through your old room? Come on, what are you worried about? Share, because Ireallywant to hear this.”

I wouldn’t go through his parents’ things. I might just take a quick peek in Casper’s old room, though.

“There is no need for you to be in my house when no one else is around.”

“There will probably be a housekeeper, gardener, cook, or pool boy. Ooh, I hope there’s a pool boy. I have one of those on my bucket list.”

His lip curls in disgust. Pool boys aren’t his kink.

“Not on your bucket list, I see,” I tease.

He stares on like I’m headlining a freak show. “You want a poolboy, Ainsley? I thought better of you.”

“Guy. Man. You know what I mean. You should be embarrassed that the only thing you could think to hit back at me with is–”

“Ainsley, give me two fucking minutes to make a call, and I will drive you to my parents’ house.”

I scowl, pretending to be irritated, but I like it when I’ve frustrated him. As I motion to turn away, having had enough of his latest tantrum, he steps in front of me.

“Move out of my way,” I demand.

“No.”

I move again, but this time he grabs my wrist. “Don’t. Just give me time to reschedule this meeting. You’ll get what you need, I promise.”

“No. Lighten up. I’ll be in and out in two minutes. Your mum told me where she put the guest list. It’s in the foyer, for Christ’s sake.”

“Ainsley.”

I’m bored of this now. He’s not given me a proper reason not to go. Besides, Ineedto go, and his mum has given me permission and left a bloody key for me. Casper doesn’t need to okay this for it to happen.

“See you later,” I say, turning around and walking away.
