“So, tell me what I need to know about you.”

“What you need to know?” I asked and flicked my red hair over my shoulder.

“Yeah. Tell me why you’re the right person for this position. Sell yourself.”

I swallowed hard.

“Well, I’m a hard worker, and I pick things up really quickly.”

I want to work here to get revenge on my dad, and this is the only place I’ll be safe from him.

“I don’t have a family or a boyfriend or anything like that, so I can dedicate as much of my time to my work as I need to.”

Working in a sex club is ironic because I’m still a virgin.

“I’ve worked as a personal assistant and in reception for a couple of years, so aside from knowing the actual system here, I won’t need to be trained from scratch.”

I could have created a normal life, but I can’t keep letting my dad get away with his crazy shit, so here I am.

“And I’m told that I’m easy on the eyes, which is always a plus in an environment like this.”

Felix chuckled at my last comment, and I smiled at him. I’d hoped that the last line would come off confident and not tacky.

“That’s always a good start,” he said.

I decided I liked him. The way he smiled reached all the way to his eyes, and despite being the beta to the city’s alpha, who was the owner of this club, he wasn’t as intimidating as I’d thought.

“Let’s talk about sex,” Felix said.

My blood ran cold. “Of course.”

“Our club isn’t exactly like the other clubs out there. Jameson runs it with a set of strict rules, and everyone has to comply. That includes you, if you make the cut. Jameson has standards he likes to uphold, which means that your lifestyle should fit the bill.”

“In what way?” I asked.

“We’re not sleezy, Miss Gilbert. We’re an upscale institution, and we like to make sure that we keep it up. The term ‘sex club’ can be interpreted in a lot of ways, but we don’t want scandals, and we don’t want our people running around, looking for trouble. Not everything that happens behind these doors is strictly legal, but we have our own system, and Jameson makes sure that everything works the way it should for his people. We’re a shifters-only club, and all that entails.”

Ah. He wanted to be sure that what happened here stayed secret, not only from the outside world, but from the humans. Shifters in large cities played a different game than in small towns. It was easier to hide in plain sight, but the repercussions when something leaked out were so much bigger.

The tension in my stomach uncoiled when I realized that Felix didn’t mean to talk aboutmysex life, but rather the sex life of the club.

It didn’t matter that I was still a virgin, right? I was just going to be a secretary, anyway.

“Do you have any questions for me?” Felix asked.

I dipped my head in a curt nod. “Yeah. Tell me what I need to know.”

Felix raised his eyebrows, but a smile tugged at the corners of his mouth.

“What do you mean?”

“Tell me why this is the job I was looking for. Sell yourself to me.”

Felix chuckled at the way I threw his words back at him.

“This is a safe working environment, but we like to challenge the rules and do things differently. This isn’t Jameson’s main income, it’s a pet project, which means it’s about passion and having a good time. You’ll be paid handsomely for what you do; you’ll be treated right, and you won’t be overworked. If you do work overtime, we’ll pay you for it. We challenge the system when it comes to traditional values and prudish ideas, but we don’t take advantage of anyone—not on the floor, and not behind the scenes.”

“That sounds good,” I said.
