He snorted. “Yeah, I’ve heard that one before. Why do you think I’m single?”

“Because you’re not devilishly charming like I am.”

“At least I don’t have a kitten walking over to me, ready to tear my clothes off.”

He started to walk away as Carly approached, but I grabbed him by the shirt and forced him to stay. “You’re not going anywhere,” I hissed.

“Dukey,” Carly purred.

I shoved Bowie at her, sacrificing my friend for my own sanity. “Bowie was just saying how beautiful he thinks you are.”

“But Dukey—”

“I actually have to get going, but Bowie really wanted a dance with you.”

“I did?” he asked, shooting daggers at me.

“You do?” Carly asked, turning to Bowie with stars in her eyes.

“He does,” I reassured her. I gave him another shove that earned me a glare.

“Yeah, I do,” he said forcefully, as if saying the words was more difficult than any mission we had in the Rangers.

I lifted my beer to them. “You kids have fun.”

I drank the last of my beer as Bowie was dragged onto the dance floor. I probably should have felt bad, but he did say he wanted more women hanging on him. This was only fair. I set the beer on the counter and dropped my money on the bar, nodding to the bartender before heading to the door. I had someone to see tonight, and she was coming home with me whether she liked it or not.

I rang the doorbell to the house, waiting patiently for her to answer. They all knew I was here, it was just a matter of how long they were going to make me stand out here. I stared right into the camera, quirking an eyebrow to whoever was watching.

“Just answer the door,” I heard someone hiss on the other side.

“No.”

I took a step closer and pressed my ear to the door.

“He already knows you’re here.”

I squinted, thinking back to the other women that lived here. I didn’t talk to the women nearly as much as the men, so it was harder for me to put a name with a voice. But if I had to guess, I’d say it was Anna, Fox’s girl.

“He came for you.”

“That’s nice, but it doesn’t change my answer. I’m already in for the night.”

“Since when did you become an old lady?”

“It doesn’t make me old to want an entire night’s sleep. Besides, he got me off already. I’m good for a while.”

The other one smirked. “Yeah, keep telling yourself that. You like his dick, and you want more.”

I smirked at the exchange, wondering how long they were going to let this go on.

“Look, I know you’re all gaga for love, but that’s not me. I do not and will never love Duke. End of story. Whatever’s going on between us is just sex.”

I flinched back, but then realized she was probably putting on a show for me. Rae wouldn’t be stupid enough to have a conversation like this with me right outside the door unless she was trying to send a message. I leaned against the doorframe and tested the doorknob, smirking when it turned.

Cool as ever, I pushed the door open, and let my gaze wander over Rae. She wasn’t lying when she said she was ready for bed. In only sleep shorts and a shirt, she hadn’t planned on going out again. Either that, or she put this on just to torture me.
