I heard another groan. “Fuck, what if I fucked her? I don’t even know if I wore a condom! What if she’s got a disease?”
“Then I guess you’d better get checked out.”
“Will you stop joking around? This is serious!”
“What’s serious is the situation I’m dealing with. You need to get yourself on a plane today and be back to work tomorrow. I’m going out of town.”
“You’re leaving me?” he asked, almost in a whimper.
I parked in my driveway and got out, heading inside. “I have a clusterfuck going on here. Carolyn is dead and the kid is missing. I need to look for him.”
“What?”
“I don’t have time to explain it to you, especially when you’re drunk.”
“Not drunk,” he hissed, but then belched into the phone. “Fuck, I think I might have been roofied last night.”
“By Carly?”
“Do women do that shit?”
“Maybe. Or you just drank way too fucking much.”
“You said Carolyn’s dead?”
Yeah, I wasn’t getting into this right now. I had to get back to OPS. “Look, take Carly and get an annulment. Then fly back here today. I need you to take over the shop. I don’t know how long I’ll be gone.”
“Fuck, alright,” he grumbled. “When I get back, I need a better explanation.”
“You and me both.”

I didn’t need to wait for her to knock. As soon as she walked through the halls, I smelled her perfume. I was already staring at the door, just waiting to see her beautiful face. She smiled at me, nearly stopping my heart. God, I was so in love with her.
“Kitten,” I growled as she stepped into the doorway. I pulled her inside and shoved her against the wall.
“Cash, now’s not the time.”
“It’s always the time,” I growled, letting my hands roam over her body.
A throat cleared, interrupting my fantasies of taking her over my desk again. I glared at Fox as he entered the room.
“Don’t let me interrupt, boss. I’m only here to tell you I’m going to Louisiana with Rae.”
He turned to walk away, and as much as I wanted to fuck Eva right this minute, I couldn’t just ignore what he said.
“Wait!”
He stopped and turned back to me with a sigh. “Yeah?”
“Did you really think you were going to get away that fast?”
His eyes flicked to Eva for a moment. “Um…”
