“I don’t know, but it’s got Gene Hackman in it. Sorcha likes him and thought we might have that in common.”

He forked up a spoonful. “And do you?”

She glared at him and mixed her curry and rice together as he chewed. “Millions of people love Gene Hackman.”

The agreeable sound he made after sampling the food had her lips twitching as she watched him continue to eat. “I like him too, by the way,” he said as she finally tasted the meal.

She moaned before she caught herself.

“And I thought you might like curry like I do,” he added with that same devilish smile, accompanied by the sexy dimple she now knew to look for.

She tossed her napkin at him, which he caught deftly. “I have two older brothers and a legion of friends, Taylor. You’re going to have to up your game to get me.”

Because the company and the curry was so nice, she only let her brow arch. “Noted. But I should remind you that I have managed to stay anonymous this whole time as Veritas and draw quite a following. How’s that for game?”

He laid his foot against her arch under the table and rubbed. “Not bad. But let’s see how you do up close and personal.”

She fought the urge to clench her thighs together. “After the movie.” Heck, after dinner. She wasn’t sure she could chew anything now.

“Eat your dinner,a stór. There’s plenty of time for everything.”

How did he do that? She barely had time to freak out before he calmed her down again.

“Are you versed in hypnosis?” she asked as she inhaled another delicious bite of lamb.

“No, why?”

“I keep wondering why I go from crazy to calm in moments around you.” She lifted her wine and drank.

He finished chewing. “When someone gets worked up, I imagine enfolding them in peace.”

“Like with your mind?” she asked, narrowing her eyes.

“It’s so natural I don’t know how to describe it now. My dad taught me to practice it with animals when I was little. Like wrapping them in a warm blanket out of the dryer. I was afraid of sheep at first, what with them being taller than me. Now it’s just part of me.”

He had a lot of parts, her Liam, ones she looked forward to understanding better. “You know, I still haven’t seen the Kindness Sheep.” She glanced out the window to the dark night. “I’ll be getting home after dark every day this week.”

“We’ll introduce you, don’t worry.” He reached out and rubbed the corner of her mouth. “I’m glad you like the curry.”

She lurched back and pressed her hands to her face. “Oh my God! Did I have rice on my face?”

He nudged her napkin toward her. “Only a couple of grains. Don’t worry. I still love you.”

She slumped forward. There it was again, like in the car this morning, but more explicit. Hereallydid love her. She could hear it in his voice. And yeah, she loved him too already. But was she at the capital Love or the lowercase love? She had to be at the capital Love to make love with him, right? That soul and body thing wasn’t a lowercase kind of love. And Sorcha had said it wouldn’t happen for five days…

“Your mind is working overtime, Taylor.” He picked up his plate and stood. “Let’s start the movie. You need a distraction and to recoup your energy.”

He knew her too well. Sometimes all she could do when she got home from work was veg on the couch. “What doyouneed? I’m sorry I didn’t ask earlier.”

He smiled as he grabbed her plate as well. “Just you.”

She waited until he’d left the room to press her hand to her heart. Her heart didn’t feel like its normal size. It was pressing against her ribs. She was sure of it.

“Taylor,” Liam called. “I found the movie.”

Good. She headed for the diversion.

Only the movie couldn’t possibly distract her from Liam when he had her cuddled between his legs, her back against his powerful chest. By the time the opening credits had finished, she was a line of earthy sensation who could only think about sex and count the days down.
