Page 16 of My Fake Boyfrenemy

We spend the rest of the time Reece is here flaunting our fake-real relationship in his mean-boy face.

It's fake because we're being completely over the top and we did technically lie about being together when we weren't.

But it's real because, well, because it's us. When I walk up behind Pierce and wrap my hands around his waist, that's real.

When he jumps out of the bushes trying to scare me, that's real.

And when we look into each other's eyes and call each other all sorts of horrible names that make the people around us gasp and blush, that's fucking real, too.

It's actually fun gallivanting around the resort like two idiots totally in love.

Because we are.

Well, I am, at least.

But even my thick head knows it's way too early to be bringing up theLword.

And when the time does come, I want to do it our way. None of the usual sappy crap. I want to come up with something good.

Somethingus.

"I'm so confused," Joel says as we're standing behind the front desk at the end of a hectic check-out.

"What about?"

"You and Pierce."

Right on cue, Leo pops his head out from his office behind the counter. I swear to God, it's like he can detect whenever someone is talking about love. The man is such a romantic.

For a moment, though, he looks mad. I notice he's holding a bunch of unopened letters in his hand.

"Is everything okay?" I ask, looking at the envelopes.

"Yeah. Fine." He quickly discards them over his shoulder into his office and tips his head. "What's this about you and Pierce?"

I chuckle. Typical Leo. Always more interested in everyone else's love life than his own. He puts everyone before him. I really hope he finds his special person one day.

"You guys are always weird," Joel supplies, "but it's like you've taken it up a notch these last few days."

"Well, that would be because Pierce and I are officially dating."

Leo breaks out in a huge smile while Joel looks surprised. I can't say I blame him. The last time he saw the two of us together we were in the midst of a toilet paper fight in one of the rooms.

I tell them the story of how Pierce and I were brought together by the arrival of his douchebag ex. When I get to the end, Leo's got a hand over his heart, his smile overtaking half of his face.

"That makes me so happy. I could sense there was something between you two. I'm so happy for you both."

"Thanks." I grin goofily. "So am I."

"And how was your stay?"

"It was fine. Thank you."

Reece taps his fingers impatiently on the white marble countertop, his lips set in a thin line, while David waits outside with their luggage. Reece doesn't exactly have that honeymoon glow about him. Or much of a tan, for that matter.
