Lu smiles widely as she pushes through the crowd back to me. “Alright, all set.”

“What is?”

“Oh, nothing, I just had to tell Becky a couple of things. But it’s done. We can go.”

I smile. “We? Go where, Lu?”

She grins. “Home! I’m so bored with this place, Jace. And I don’t want to party. Unless it’s with you. Let’s go!”

She wraps her gentle hand around my arm, and my heart squeals like a kid on his first roller coaster ride—she chose me over everyone else.

I’m so happy.

So high.

And so, so screwed.

LU

“Roey drugged me,”Jace tells me when we get in the cab.

“What?”

His arm slides around my waist, pulling me toward him. “It’s a chill pill,” he murmurs, burying his face in my hair. “It just makes one happy.”

“Are you happy?”

He nuzzles my cheek. “Me?”

I try to study him, see an actual effect on his face. But his lips hitch in a smile, and he rubs his nose against mine.

“I’m always happy when I’m around you, Lu baby,” he murmurs and starts kissing me softly, teasing little pecks that make me grin.

“I love when you call me that,” I confess, wrapping my arms around his neck. “And the way you talk. Especially right now.”

He buries his face in my neck. “You smell so good.” His tongue licking my skin makes me giggle. “And taste even better.”

He’s a talker tonight.

Thank you, Roey.

“Your place or mine?” He chuckles against my neck.

I burst into laughter, happy like a freaking puppy.

Jace’s hands sneak under my skirt.

Well, hello, Sharki.

I don’t know if it’s the pill or if Jace is getting comfortable with me, but I like this side of him—slightly rough, insistent, his hands so confident as they roam my body.

He pulls me into him, pulls my legs over his lap, and palms my butt, squeezing it. His body is solid and warm. It’s like a magnet, drawing me in with every touch.

“I am so devouring you when we get home,” he whispers.

We. Home. Devouring.
