But? Now I’m even more curious.

Lu wraps her arms around her waist like she is uncomfortable talking about it.

“So, why don’t you write what you want?” I suggest.

“It doesn’t sell. I’m starting a new story that might be a little more complex.” She bites her lip to hide a smile.

What was that, Lu?

She blushes again and starts walking around, putting the drapes over the canvases she just bared for me, avoiding looking at me.

“The new story will be from the heart,” she says.

“But still spicy?” I tease her, every cell in my body flaring up at the word.

She squints at me, wrinkling her nose. “Yeah.”

“Smut from the heart.”

She laughs, throwing her head back, and pretends to throw her phone at me.

“I do other things, too,” she confesses.

Like hustling rent.

“Wanna strike big, huh?”

“I want to make a sinful amount of money and blind people with my awesomeness,” she explains with a smile but, I figure, with total truthfulness.

Lu already blinds me with her mere presence in my life. I need sunglasses around her so I don’t look so in awe. And also so I can stare at her cute butt and gorgeous legs. Her laughter is as adorable as her oversized shirt hanging off her shoulder, making me want to kiss her bare skin. And booty shorts. Don’t even get me started on those.

The more time I spend talking to her, the more I want to know her. And definitely read those stories she writes.

So as soon as I leave her room, I text Miller.

Me: I need to know Lucy Moor’s pen name on the writing platform she uses. Thanks, man.

My heart beats wildly when, only a minute later, my phone beeps with a message notification.

Danny Miller: It’s Story Den. Her pen name is @MidnightLu.

JACE

I don’t feelbad about snooping around on the Story Den, or SD. I might become Lu’s fan. She needs to grow her fanbase, right? I’m in.

I create a reader’s profile and type her pen name in the search field.

Her avatar is a flower. No face—smart.

She’s published forty-six episodes in the last three years, has over 19,000 followers, and 132 patrons—super-fans, I guess?

This should be interesting.

I go to her most recent and most-read series,Beautiful Vice.

#Enemiestolovers, the tag says, and I’m giddy like I’m about to unwrap a Christmas present.
