We’re both feral today, almost animalistic as he pushes back onto me when I position myself against his hole. Reaching around, I lean into him, sliding into his heat as gently as I can while wrapping my lubed fist around the length of his cock.

He hisses, hips already rocking as my hand moves with my thrusts. A howl of protest tears out of him when I let go to grab the lube again. Once my palm is properly lathered up and I bring it back to his cock, he moans and moves again.

Neither of us fuck around. He thrusts into my hand as I thrust into him, feeling him squeeze around me. Within no time, I feel my orgasm building. His knot swells in my hand and mine makes pounding his ass a little more difficult as it grows.

Unable to get as deep as before, I move faster instead, fucking him with the generous length leftover from the start of my knot to my tip.

Tai moans and heat ignites at the base of my spine, building in that space low in my stomach.

The coming explosion builds with more force than I remember ever feeling before, the detonation imminent, primed for a glorious eruption.

Tai’s thighs tense, and his back arches, his head dropping forward as I feel his movements falter.

He comes on a loud roar, but neither of us has any qualms about the staff hearing us. Tai and I are in-the-moment Alphas. We’re passionate, and we don’t care who knows it. When he clenches around me, his orgasm triggers mine. As I lose it, Maddie’s face pops into my head, her name on my lips before I collapse on top of my packmate in the wake of the most mind-blowing climax I’ve had in a good, long time.

And I know it’s because of her, the Omega with the scent that has intoxicated two-thirds of our pack to the point that I could barely walk earlier. All that remains to be seen now is whether she’s Kaz’s undoing as well. If she is, I think our decision has been made and the Trials may come to an early end this year.

“How are you, Eric?”I ask the mild-mannered head gardener with his arms elbow deep in a rose bush, pruning away the dying leaves and buds.

I’ve always preferred small talk with all our household staff as opposed to the lifted nose faces of the royals and dignitaries at court.

There’s no requirement to be polished and perfect with them, and though it’s taken some time, they’ve all but entirely stopped being terrified to speak to me.

Eric shoots me a sheepish smile, and I’m reminded again that we’ve yet to find a replacement for the his second. Eric looks like he’s been out here since dawn to make up for the now-one-man-short team. I’ll have to see to that.

“Very well, thank you, Your Highness. Are you waiting on a date?”

“Yes, I am.”

I glance down at the watch on my wrist and heave out a frustrated sigh. “Though it seems this particular Omega is averse to punctuality, which I’m not sure bodes well.”

“Perhaps she’s lost, sir,” he speculates out loud before shooting me another sheepish grin. “Apologies. It’s not my business.”

Despite my severe irritation about the Omega’s tardiness, I manage a polite smile. “No, you’re right. I suppose it’s possible they may have lost their way. Although, there are enough people around to ask.”

“Too right, sir.”

It looks like he’s about to say more, but then he focuses on something behind my shoulder and inclines his head a bit. “It seems she’s found you, sir. A pleasant day to you.”

“And you.”

I turn to find the Omega who tripped the other night hurrying toward me. Her face is so flushed it looks like she’s been stung by nettles.

So why is she still so damn beautiful?

Honestly, I was taken aback the other day by how affected I was at her scent, but it wasn’t just that. There was a strange defiance about the tilt of her chin and the set of her jaw as she stared me down that stayed with me long after the ceremony ended.

As she gets closer, I take a deep breath to tame my annoyance about her tardiness, but when I do, I notice the air is tinged by that sweet citrusy scent of hers. Like candied mandarin and patchouli.

I’d never be able to forget a scent like that. I know for a fact it belongs to her, but it’s stronger than it should be. More alluring.

If she’s taking her suppressants as she’s meant to, it has no right to be that potent. Not unless she’s in the shadow of a dawning heat.
