I waggle my eyebrows at him, but Kaz surprises the crap out of me when he winks at his packmate, a slight smirk lifting the edges of his lips. “Feeling a bit left out, are we?”

Wolf pouts, then gives me a playful, suggestive look. “How about we leavethemout for a change? I’ve got a promise to keep, anyhow.”

Wetness pools between my legs, and my nerve endings spring to life at the same time. I promised my mother I’d do whatever makes me happy. I vowed to myself that if the opportunity presents itself tonight, I’d roll with it.

But they promised me nachos, and I’ve never spent time with all three of them together. I’m making memories here, and this is one I definitely want. I simply flash him a coy smile instead of turning him down like I know he’s expecting me to.

“Later,” I promise, my stomach choosing that moment to give a loud burble of hungry protest.

“Charlie!” Kaz calls toward the east wing corridor. “Bring in the feast.”

He pours four shots of tequila as a line of serving staff starts to bring in plate after plate of Mexican food. Some I recognize and some I’m desperate to try.

“Cheers,” Wolf says, lifting his shot glass. “To enchiladas and orgasms.”

I flush again, giggling as all of us as one chant the toast before downing our shots. “To enchiladas and orgasms!”

Holy shit.I’ve never met anyone who can keep up with me the way Maddie does. Every fucking time, she surprises the living daylights out of me, and I’m so here for it.

She’s outeaten me. No one clears their plate faster than I do.No one.

No one except Maddison Darling.

Putting my hands together in applause, I bow down to the Omega who has rendered me speechless. Kaz gapes at me before turning back to her. “I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it seems you’ve out-Wolfed Wolf. Give him a minute to think of an appropriate response. I’ll go tell the server we’re ready for more nachos.”

When he’s gone, Tai glances at me. Even if we didn’t have a bond that allowed me to feel what he’s feeling, I’d have known exactly what he’s experiencing right now.

Maddie belongs with us. She gets us all so damn well. While it sucks that we can’t make her ours, we still want her. Bad.

Oblivious to what’s passing between us, she laughs at something Tai’s said about a good ‘ravishing’ beingalmostas good as a plate of taquitos with salsa verde.

“A good ravishing, huh?” She chuckles. “So, tell me, what do you guys do around here when you’re not sweeping innocent Omegas off our feet?”

She bats her lashes at him, and he grins so easily that I’m a little taken aback by it. Tai doesn’t naturally get along with just anybody. It’s rare to see such a relaxed grin on his face even with us, but aimed at an outsider, it’s almost unheard of.

“Don’t pretend you’re so innocent, darling. You want to be swept off your feet, but to answer your question, I guess we just do this.”

“Between bouts of good ravishings,” I joke—sort of, anyway. “We hang out. We shoot a little pool. Binge Netflix, and Kaz saves the world every once in a while.”

Maddie’s gaze drifts in the direction he disappeared to. When he comes back around the corner, I see the moment he sees her looking for him. I thought the guy was made of steel to be able to ignore his impulses with her, but I suddenly realize he’s no better than us.

His razor-sharp features soften instantly, his gaze becoming almost gentle before it fills with a familiar heat and his fingers roll into his palms like he’s physically restraining himself from reaching for her. He tightens his fists, then his nostrils flare as he collects himself and pretends nothing happened.

“I don’t save the world,” he says modestly, though he legitimately has had a hand in doing just that once or twice. “Eventually, I hope I’ll be able to do some good, but I’ll leave the world-saving to the professionals.”

Maddie frowns. “Wouldn’t being the king automatically make you a professional?”

My brows rise. It’s not often that someone is so blatantly honest with him. As I turn to him, expecting him to snap at her or something, I realize he’s considering a real answer. He doesn’t seem surprised by the question at all, and when he finally replies, I fuckingknowhe’s been blocking us out at times when he’s been with her.

There’s no way they’ve had conversations this intense and this raw without us feeling it from him otherwise.

“I wouldn’t say I’d automatically be a professional. I’d be more involved and a lot of people would look to me for advice and guidance, but I’d have people advising and guiding me in turn. Unfortunately, being the monarch means not always being able to get your hands dirty.”
