Crawling under the covers, I watch as he strips off his shirt and pants, taking in the sight of his large shoulders, toned chest, and chiseled abdomen.

He climbs in beside me and brings me against him, our bodies molded together beneath the sheets. Resting my hand on his chest, his heartbeat is strong beneath my palm.

Drumming wildly.

Jaxon strokes my hair, soothing me. My eyelids grow heavier with each passing second. He leans in and his lips capture mine, and the whole world falls away.

Drifting his hand to my hip, he pulls me closer until there’s no space left between us. Our lips move in perfect sync, firmly, slowly. Warmth spreads throughout my body, and I sink into his hold, clinging to him. Holding onto him for dear life.

After stripping us bare, he moves onto me, crashing his lips against mine. He aligns himself with my entrance and thrusts inside of me with one, long stroke. Swallowing my moans, he pushes into me again, filling my aching void.

He kisses my shoulder tenderly, before resting his forehead in the crook of my neck. Gripping my thigh, he spreads my legs wider, giving me no other choice than to take him deeper.

After everything that’s happened these last few weeks, it’s been a while since I’ve felt anything. And tonight, Ifeel. I feel everything. Every kiss. Every thrust. Every emotion.

I swore that I would never let my guard down with him again, yet that’s exactly what I’ve done.

I’ve invited him back in.

CHAPTERTWENTY-NINE

My eyes slowly flutter open, adjusting to the light spilling in through the windows. A happy grin claims my face as I roll onto my back. Fear consumes me. Doubt. My heart immediately sinks, and a feeling of emptiness fills my chest.

Jaxon is nowhere in sight.

Sitting upright, the sheets pool at my waist. My naked body reminds me of last night, Jaxon making love to me, and falling asleep in his arms.

Now, I am alone.

With my thoughts racing, I anxiously look around the room, feeling betrayed. Until suddenly, Jaxon strides out of the bathroom and stands casually in the doorway.

He smiles. “Good morning, beautiful,” he says, and it sounds like music to my ears.

Tears of relief spring to my eyes. “Morning,” I softly say, watching him closely as he makes his way to my side.

Frowning, he sits on the bed, cupping my face with his hand. “Is something wrong?” he asks, startled. “Are you okay?”

I nod, my eyes glistening in the sunlight.

“Well, which one?”

Laughing under my breath, I lift my hand to lock my fingers tightly around his wrist.

“You’re okay?” he asks, grinning.

“Yes,” I reply, widely smiling. “I’m okay. I just woke up and you weren’t next to me.”

“I’m so sorry,” he rushes out, stroking my hair.

“That was terrifying.”

“Oh, Sasha.”

He leans forward, and presses his lips against mine. He kisses me tenderly. Slowly. Breathing me in, groaning under his breath.

“I thought I had made it clear when I said that would never happen again.”

“I’m just glad you’re here,” I sincerely say, meaning it deeply. “I’m so happy.”
