My eyes widen with anticipation.

“Are you going to make me repeat myself?”

“No,” I immediately say. “I’m sorry, Sir.”

“Don’t disrespect me by being prideful,” he says, firmly holding my jaw. “Take my card like a good little girl, and allow me to spoil you.”

“Yes, Sir,” I submissively say, taking the credit card from his tight grasp.

“And what do you say?”

“Thank you.”

“So polite,” he says, with a twitch of a smile. “When I get home, I want you kneeling in the playroom, ready for me. Am I clear?”

“Yes, Sir. You’re clear.”

He smirks, before pressing a soft, lingering kiss on my lips.

With the chorusof the birds above, the breeze feels wonderful as it brushes against my skin. The sun is shining brightly, and there’s not one cloud in the sky.

The waiter returns with our drinks, placing them onto the table before scurrying away. Crystal and I laugh at the awkwardness.

“Cheers,” she chirps, holding up her drink. “To drinking before five.”

“Cheers to that!”

Clink.

She smiles, her light blue eyes glimmering in the sunlight. “I’m really glad you joined me.”

“Me, too. I would have been bored silly all day.”

“I hate that,” she mumbles, plopping an olive into her Bloody Mary. “I’ve been drowning in school. I feel like I study more than I ever spend time with friends or family.”

“Nursing school, right?”

She nods, rolling her eyes. “Yes.”

“That’s a really great field to get into.”

“What do you do for work?” she asks.

Suddenly, I freeze, struggling for words. “Well, right now I’m taking some time off.”

“You and Jaxon are staying here in California until after the wedding, right?”

“Right,” I reply with a grin.

“So, what did you do for work before your break?”

“I’m a dancer.”

It slips. My shoulders stiffen, and I pray it’s not visible. My stomach turns over, and my heart begins to race.

“A dance teacher,” I quickly add in. “And a writer.”
