Although, I remain perfectly still.

Shutting my eyes, I’m ready, giving in to the terrifying, yet sweet temptation, until we’re pulled from this moment.

His cellphone rings, and he quickly retrieves it from his pocket. “I need to take this call,” he announces. “Business.”

And he walks away.

CHAPTERTEN

Several hours later, we say our goodbyes. Jaxon requests for me to have dinner ready once he returns home from work, which reminds me of why I’m here. To be his Submissive.

With the sleek granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and burgundy walls, this kitchen easily puts the one back at my apartment to shame. It’s uncluttered, immaculate, and well equipped with everything you could possibly imagine.

There’re utensils on hooks, a matching island in the center, along with an empty vase. After exploring his backyard, it’s not long before the vase is filled with vivacious, red roses.

The aroma is heavenly, and the light from the sun’s rays bring a brightness to every petal. Smiling, I place the vase onto the table, before spotting the mess of glass and silverware on the floor.

My steamy encounter with Jaxon last night immediately comes to mind, having flashbacks of him spanking me, and fucking me into exhaustion.

Shuddering, a cold chill runs down my spine, and I find myself grasping onto the edge of the table to keep myself upright. Being with him is unlike anything else.

He’s handsome, mysterious, powerful.

Dominant.

An overwhelming craving for him settles between my legs. Provoking me. Mocking me. Kneeling on the floor and sweeping up the mess, I try desperately to push every dirty thought of him out of my mind. Although, it’s nearly impossible.

I can’t quite seem to fight the ache.

Night eventually falls. We eat dinner in a comfortable silence, although I can tell that something is on his mind. Once we’re finished, I clean the kitchen and feel as if there’s tension between us.

When I least expect it, Jaxon announces for me to meet him in the living room. The second he disappears through the doorway, I can’t help but feel unsettled from the formal tone of his voice. Something is going on.

The quiet sound of music playing is soothing to my ears as I step into the room. Spotting Jaxon sitting on the couch, I make my way toward him.

He gestures for me to take the spot beside him.

“Sit,” he says, and it’s not a request.

I do as I’m told.

There’re several pieces of paper resting on the table, and he holds a pen. Curious as to what these documents could possibly be regarding, I lean forward, allowing myself a better look.

He abruptly turns to me, his eyes beaming into mine.

“Communication is very vital in this relationship,” he begins, sliding the papers into my view. “There are safe words, soft limits, hard limits, punishments, and rewards. There’re also expectations of both parties, although, I need you to realize that this contract can be terminated at any time.”

“Can it?”

“Yes.”

I nod in return.

“We’ve yet to make any changes. If you wish to do so, now would be the appropriate time.”

“Changes,” I carefully repeat, and my breathing quickens. “I honestly don’t know what I would change.”
