I’d arranged everything and Aurora wouldn’t know what we were doing until we were already on the yacht. We would get a lesson on scuba diving, then go down with a certified instructor to make sure that it was safe and fun. I couldn’t wait to see Aurora’s face when she found out.

The pilot’s voice came over the jet’s intercom. “Signore Morelli, we will begin our descent in just a few minutes. Please secure your belongings and buckle your seatbelts.”

The limo pulled up to the dock and I looked over at Aurora to make sure that she didn’t peek through the blindfold that I’d put on her before we left the plane.

“No peeking.”

“I’m not.” Her happy voice took on an almost melodic tone.

“Good. Come on.” I playfully tugged her out of the car with me and helped her find her balance.

“Do I hear water? Are we at the beach?” She sounded excited and it made me grin.

“You’ll have to wait and find out. Come on.” I took her hand and rested it in the crook of my elbow to guide her along the walkway down to the docks. “Okay, be careful here. You’re going to need to step...” she stepped but not high enough. The toe of her shoe caught on the step, and she tumbled forward. I moved quickly, barely managing to catch her in a dip. It was like something from the movies. There wouldn’t be a more perfect time to remove the blindfold.

I pulled off the blindfold and she squinted, blinking in the bright sunlight until her eyes finally focused on me and she blushed. She looked around in surprise as she took in our surroundings.

“We’re going on a yacht?”

“We are.” I helped stand her upright. “But that’s not all.”

Just then, I caught a glimpse of our scuba instructor coming toward the yacht with our gear and I nodded my head toward him. Aurora followed my gesture and her jaw practically dropped to the deck.

“We’re going scuba diving?”

“We are. There are some amazing shipwrecks in these waters, so you are guaranteed to see something incredible while we’re down there. And I got you something.” I pulled a small box from my bag and Aurora took it excitedly.

“What is this? You’ve already done so much.”

“Open it,” I urged with a big grin nearly splitting my face in two.

Aurora lifted the lid to the small decorative box to reveal an underwater camera and she gasped.

“You can’t go scuba diving for the first time andnotdocument it.”

“This is amazing. Thank you so much.” Aurora sprang into my arms, hugging me around the neck and I wrapped my arms around her waist, holding her tight and loving the warmth of her body pressed against mine.

“We will sail out to the spot while the two of you change into your gear,” the trainer said. “I’ll make sure you both know the basics before we make our first full dive.”

“That sounds great.” Aurora beamed at the instructor then at me and her smile made every bit of planning worth it.

While we were sailing to the right spot, Aurora and I changed into our wetsuits downstairs, then sat on the deck, admiring the deep blue water.

Aurora leaned over, keeping her voice low so that no one else could hear her. "This has to make it difficult for the press to get pictures of us."

It pained me that she expected this gesture to only be about the press, but what should I have expected considering that's what I was paying her for?

I leaned down to talk quietly in her ear. "This isn't for them."

Aurora looked surprised but she grinned happily, and it was contagious because I found myself grinning too.

The captain stopped the boat and announced proudly, "this is it. We are directly above one of the largest shipwrecks in the area."

"I can't wait."

"Well, you'll have to wait just a little longer while we do our training session first."

"Of course."
