The fact that I had a child out there somewhere was overwhelming.

And the fact that Angela had kept it from me for so long made me question a lot of things.

I couldn’t believe I had a child who was now three years old.

Chapter 7

Angela

AftertellingDanteaboutour son and revealing the reason for my sudden disappearance three years ago, it had only been a day.

Despite feeling a sense of relief at finally telling him the truth, I couldn't shake off the uneasiness that lingered within me.

Dante's expression after hearing the news left me unsure of what he was thinking or feeling.

It made my heart heavy with guilt, and I could hear Jessie's voice in my head saying, "I told you so."

I wished I hadn't told Dante at times, but I knew it was the right thing to do.

However, now that I had opened up, I was left with the uncertainty of what the future held for us and our son.

We weren’t able to talk more because Dante had been called away by Luigi.

What for? I didn’t know.

I sighted for the umpteenth time as I entered the living room.

I was startled upon seeing Caterina sitting on the couch, surrounded by wedding magazines and notes.

She had a look of excitement on her face, and I couldn't help but feel happy for her.

"Angela!" she exclaimed as she saw me. "Come sit with me. I need your help."

I walked over and sat down beside her, taking in all the wedding decorations and ideas that were scattered across the coffee table.

"I need your opinion on these centerpieces," Caterina said, holding up two different pictures.

"Which one do you like better?"

As I examined the pictures, Caterina continued to talk about the wedding plans, the guest list, and the catering.

I could see how happy and excited she was, and it made me smile.

Suddenly, my phone rang, and I excused myself. It was Dante.

"Hey," I answered, trying to keep my voice calm.

"Angela, I'm sorry about earlier," he said.

"I didn't mean to react that way. It's just that what you told me caught me off guard."

"I understand," I replied, although I wasn't sure I did.

I mean, I did but it didn’t stop me from experiencing the bitter feelings I was currently feeling.

Dante's voice crackled through the phone.

"But we need to talk about it. We can't just ignore it. Can we meet up later and discuss this in person?"
