I sighed, knowing that avoiding the topic would only make things worse in the long run.

"Sure," I replied reluctantly, not wanting to have this conversation but understanding its importance.

As I hung up the phone and walked back into the living room, Caterina looked up at me with a knowing expression.

"What's going on?" she asked.

I hesitated for a moment, debating whether or not to tell her about my conversation with Dante.

But she was Dante’s sister.

She would probably find out about it either way.

Besides, maybe I could sound her out on potential steps Dante would take.

“What’s wrong, Angela?” she asked, her brown eyes full of concern.

“It’s about Dante,” I began, “We’ve been having some problems lately, and I don’t know what to do.”

“What kind of problems?” she asked, leaning forward.

I took another deep breath before continuing, “I told him yesterday that I have a son, his son, from three years ago. I never told him before because I was afraid of how he would react, and now everything is so complicated.”

Caterina’s eyes widened in surprise, “You have a son? Why didn’t you tell Dante earlier?”

“I was scared,” I admitted, “I thought he would think I was just a gold digger trying to trap him.”

Caterina shook her head, “You know Dante better than that, Angela. He wouldn’t have thought that.”

“I know, but it’s too late now,” I said, feeling a sense of regret wash over me.

Caterina put a comforting hand on my shoulder.

“You did the right thing by telling him, even if it’s causing problems now. Dante is a good man, and he will come around eventually.”

I nodded, feeling grateful for her support.

“I hope you’re right, Caterina. I just don’t know what to do next.”

“We’ll figure it out together,” she said, giving me a reassuring smile.

And with that, I knew that I had someone on my side, someone who understood the complexity of my situation and was willing to help me navigate through it.

“Caterina!”

Just then, Dante’s mother’s voice rang out and Caterina and I turned to see Isabella entering the living room.

“Oh! Angela, I didn’t know you were here.”

Isabella smiled lightly at me before turning to her daughter.

“Your wedding planner tried to contact you but couldn't reach you," Isabella said, catching Caterina's attention.

She jumped up from the couch, hesitating for a moment before turning to her mother.

Isabella reassured her, "Don't worry, I'll stay with Angela until you come back."

I felt a pang of anxiety as Isabella's gaze turned to me.
