When I regain my bearings, I try to pull away from her, conscious of my weight, afraid of suffocating her or injuring her in some way, but I feel her legs and arms clutch at me, holding me still over and inside of her.

I kiss her temple, nose, and chin and then her lips softly. "You truly like it when I crush you like this, then?" I ask, smiling.

She nods, reaching up to caress my face, one of her feet slowly going up and down my calf, making my spent but still mostly hard dick jump inside her. "You don't crush me. You make me feel safe."

I grin down at her, kissing her again. Maybe we don’t need that moat and ten-foot-tall fence, after all.

CHAPTER13

Lynn

Iopen my eyes, and immediately I feel a smile stretching my lips, and I exhale in perfect contentment. I burrow further into the source of heat emanating from behind me, and I feel strong arms encircle me.

That’s how I have been waking up every morning for the last month: well-loved and happy.

I did manage to convince Devon that we needed to pace ourselves and that there was no reason to rush. So we are not living together yet, but we do spend almost every night at his place or mine.

Sometimes, I can’t believe it’s already been four weeks. It feels like yesterday that I woke up startled, confused, and hungover in his enormous four-poster bed. Other times instead, it’s everything else that constituted our reality before that night that feels unbelievable.

Every hour of every day, Devon has worked at breaking down my walls, showing me his love for me, and sharing his true self with me.

I’ve never been more important to someone, and I’ve never felt more loved or more precious, but there is more. It's not only about how he makes me feel when it comes to our relationship. It's the way he makes me feel about myself, also. Stronger, more open, more…everything.

I still don’t know how he did it, but he did. He made me see just how perfect we are for each other. No shots of any kind involved, just a couple of beers here and there with our friends —who, by the way, could not be happier for us.

I kiss his forearm, my fingers caressing the back of his hand.

I don't need to think things over anymore, nor do I need more confirmation of the rightness of us, and today I'm going to tell him.

I feel the moment Devon wakes up. His arms tighten around me, and his lips fleet over my collarbone as he turns me around; his cock is standing proud between us. We have a no-clothes policy in bed unless it's that time of the month, so, minus three days, we have been sleeping as nature intended for the entire month and are stark naked at present.

"Morning, love," he mumbles on my mouth, and then his tongue is entwining with mine, pleasure shooting down my center.

I pull back a little. I can't wait anymore. He has to know. I won't allow us to make love another time with this huge, unsaid thing between us. "Dev, I have to tell you something."

His fingers squeeze my breasts, his lips on my neck. “I’m listening, baby.”

I grab his head until he is looking at me again. “No, Devon. Not while we… it’s important.”

“Can’t we just fuck real quick and then talk, love? I want you so much,” he groans, making me feel how hard he is, his mouth going again for one of my nipples.

I huff. A little exasperated with him. It took me days to find the courage to tell him, and now that I feel ready, he only has sex in his brain. "No, Devon. I told you! It's not something we can just discuss after. You need to know now."

He looks at me for a long moment, then his eyebrows furrow and his aqua eyes darken, his face goes suddenly pale, and before I can so much as call his name, he is jumping out of bed and pulling on his clothes as he walks to the bathroom.

I sit there stunned into silence. Then when I see him coming out of the en-suite already dressed in one of his fine, expensive three-piece suits, I spring into action. I put on a robe, and I start to follow him around as he picks up his iPhone and his briefcase.

“Devon?” I call. “What the hell is going on?”

He doesn’t look at me; his voice cold and distant. “I just remembered that I have a boardroom meeting in less than half an hour. I have to go.”

I nod, pulling at his sleeve at the same time to make him slow down. "Okay, but can't you just wait for a second? I promise it'll take just a couple of minutes and—"

“I don’t have a couple of minutes, Lynn. Not right now,” he snaps at me.

My eyes widen in surprise. He hasneverspoken to me in such a short manner since we have been together, no matter how shitty his day could be.

“Devon, what is going on?”
