“I can hear you, you know?” Camilla says.

“God knows. We might be waiting for days,” Nat says, winking.

Camilla grumbles something under her breath but continues working on her makeup.

“So why are we going out with Elias, exactly?” I ask,

Nat’s jaw clenches. “Because he can get us out and I wanted a night on the town, that’s all.”

I’m very good at knowing when anyone lies to me, but Nat has tells that are unmissable. For example, she always clenches her jaw when she’s about to lie. “I see, well who else is going?”

Nat shrugs. “Not too sure.”

“Are we going to get Eva?”

“Of course,” Nat says, as if it’s a given that Eva is a part of the group now. I guess she is, but I still can’t shake the feeling that Nat is trying to replace Giorgia.

“I miss Giorgia,” I say.

Nat’s expression turns solemn. “So do I. Have you heard from her at all?”

I shake my head. “No, not since the start of summer break. You?”

Nat shakes her head and we both fall silent.

After at least thirty minutes, Camilla says, “Ready.” Standing and grabbing her clutch.

“At last, now we just need to get Eva ready.” She glares at Camilla. “Let’s hope she doesn’t take as long as you.”

There’s no way in hell Eva is going to be alright with going out with the three girls that stabbed her on her first night here. “She isn’t going to want to go out with the three bitches.”

“None of us do, but we won’t tell her they’re coming,” Nat says.

Camilla makes a tutting sound. “So devious at times, Nat.”

All she does is smile and nod toward the door. “Come on, or we’ll be late.”

Eva will be pissed when she finds out Jeanie and her minions are coming, but it’s inevitable when going out with Elias. They’re always with him.

We walk down the corridor, and I can’t deny that despite the company we’re going out with, I’m thankful to get off campus for a few hours. Far away from Coach Daniels.

ARCHER

“Is this really the best place for us to grab a drink?” Gav asks. As always, he’s his usual grumpy self.

Oak nods. “It’s a little loud.”

I shake my head. “Sorry grandpa, but this is the hottest place in town.”

“In case you forgot, we’re professors at a nearby school, not frat boys,” Oak says.

I laugh. “Both of you need to lighten up.” I shake my head and make my way toward the bar. “It’s not like we’ll run into any of our students.” A lie if ever I told one. The sole reason I brought my two best friends here is because I know a group of academy kids are coming here tonight. I also know that Adrianna should be with them.

“Usual?” I ask Oak.

“Yeah, whiskey, neat.”
